Got a 98 c5 61000 miles, bought it with new tires and now they have about 11000 miles on them. I got some aftermarket rims and the tires had an on and off vebration about every 2 seconds. I got rid of those wheels and got some new ones and the same thing happened. Took the car to get it lined up and they put the wheels on a high speed ballancer and said it was the front right tire so they said get some new tires and it would fix the problem. I bought some used goodyear eagle f1ns and put them on and it fixed the problem but there is still a bit of a vibration like i had before but not as bad..i am now wandering if it could be coming from the rear tires....any ideas how i can fix this. It is truly driving me crazy to the point where i want to get rid of the car

FIRST thing I would do is balance ALL the tires the same time then see if it comes back, you *could* have a minor bent wheel causing this. Most Likely its the balance on the rears.
The only way I ever have any wheel on any of my vehicles balanced is by "road force" balancing. It costs me $25/wheel but first they spin measure the rim, then they spin measure the tire, and then they mount them together based on the readings and it always gives me that perfect ride.
MONEYM - i understand your pain. I had a Nissan 300ZX that I could'nt get right. I bought new rims/tires and it still vibrated. I ended up contibuting it to being a Nissan (but I think I bent the drive shaft when I popped a median)
