Im getting new tires on my 04 z06. i just wanted to see what everyone thought about BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2. I heard several good things about them. Anyone have them before. Also they only make the front tires in 255/40zr17 instead of my stock size 265/40zr17. Anyone know if i would have any problems with the 255's. thanks
They are excellent tires (dry and wet pavement), are noisier than most and don't last as long as say, the Goodyear GSD3s, but overall, they are among the top three or four "premium" tires. I would place them in third, behind the GSD3s and PS2s.
thanks for the help. i have looked at several tires.. the ps2's , the kuhmo;s, bfgood g-force, eagle f1... it just seems like the ps2's are alot more money for not alot better tire. i like the look of the g-force. what i need is traction...... any ideas of the 255's will make any difference up front? id like to stay with the 265's but they dont have them.

I just put a set of Vredestein's on my 02 Z06. 275/40ZR17 & 295/35ZR18 from TomZwheels. They will hold WOT in 1st on decent pavement - even when it's wet (no standing water when I did that). This morning they even held with 35 degree temps on dry for a short burst to 5000 RPM.
Just be sure to check the pressures after mounting... my mounter left them with 35.7-41 psi!
I have KDW II's. Stick very well for rated tread wear, noisy. Day & nite over the run flats in all areas. I had a balance problem with fronts tires & finally had to call BFG myself....they replaced them in the end. Next time I will pay more dollars & explore PS'2 or equivalent.

I wouldn't put tires smaller than OEM on the car....just because you like the looks of the tread pattern.
The PS2's are a great tire with a large range of sizes available. But remember - the PS2 is most definitely a summer tire. It is not rated for cold weather or snow. I didn't notice where you are, but keep that in mind.
As far as paying more for it - you're paying for engineering and technology. A number of the European performance cars use the tire as OEM, so I think there is a lot more to the tire than just marketing. Porsche uses the PS2 on the Turbo, and I doubt that Porsche would make it the OEM tire if it just looked good.
I've used the kwd's since they've been out and as far as I can tell there is no tire better. They have great traction in the wet and unbelieveable dry traction.
thanks for the help... i dont really have to worry about winter tires b/c i live in texas. the coldest it gets here is low 40's and thats only for a few days a year.
I considered those when I got new tires for my 04 Z06, but ultimately decided to stay with the exact factory sizes and bought GY F1 SC tires. I like to keep everything I can original.
I had Goodrich Comp T/A tires on my SS Camaro, (also factory tire), and were satisfied with them. The G-Force series is what replaced the Comp T/As. I like the tread design on the original KDWs, but don't like the KDW2 design.
Michelin PS2s are a pretty awesome, 'all around' performance tire, but they are pricey. However, you might be surprised what good, used PS2s (and other tires) sell for on _BAY.
If you are concerned about traction (on a 'budget') and driving in Texas, consider a 275/305 Nitto combo. Or look into Toyo's RA1s.
You could go a little wider than 265/295, but I would never seriously consider going narrower on a car that will easily accomodate 11"/12.5" tires.
I would think those 255 BFG KDWs would be degrading the performance potential of a Z06.
