I recently bought my first Corvette, a 1999 C-5 with 74,000 miles.

Now I'm wondering if that is too many miles, and wonder what kind of mileage to expect.

I'm one of those guys who keep a car forever. For example, I bought a 1969 Jaguar in 1970 and still have it.

Depending on how the car was cared for theres a lot of life left in your car.

I've seen a lot of people comment on getting 200K miles from the engine. As for the rest, like was said it depends on how it was cared for but should be good for quite some time

Think about this. In the pre 4 speed auto trans and 6 speed manual days it was a no brainer to get 100,000 miles out of an engine. Now think the new trans that allow 1500 RPM cruising. 200,000 miles easy.

If you take care of your car you should be able to at least double the current mileage and more!

and congrats on your new purchase.

I too bought a '99 and it had about 64k on it when I bought it. It was an Arizona car and well cared for. 2 years later - not one problem. Have I done a lot of maintenance type stuff and some mods? yes... all the fluids and some of the basic mods like a blackwing, CLB, D/R rotors, etc. $.02

gees! there was a 01 Z06 with bolt ons and a tune with 129,000 miles that beat my stock 02 z06 with 29,000 miles. these cars last forever!

250,000 miles life would not be unreasonable with good care

dealers sell all our 100,000+ mile cars to mexico and they run them all well over 250,000 miles.

Properly maintained, you should see many, many more miles out of your C5. There are a number of forum members that have well in excess of 100K on their cars.

You should be good for miles and miles of smiles and years and years of service with your '99!

Oh, and welcome to the Forum (and the White List).
