BATTERY TENDER PLUS or BATTERY TENDER JR. (DELTRAN CORP) have been around for a while in the USA (@ $59.95/$29.95) They produce 1.25 amps and .75 amps, which is perfect for an OPTIMA and can be used on any other type battery for full charge maintenance (albeit slow). Motorcyclists have been using them for years. They also produce higher output products depending on the applications. BATTERY TENDER does have a product for charging multiple vehicles at the same time.
The CTEK is relatively new in the USA, but has been used in Europe for some time (@ $69.95). I think it produces up to 2 amps. I don't know if they have a single unit for charging multiple vehicles at the same time.
Both have circuitry to prevent battery damage or mishaps. You won't go wrong with either one.
Go to their websites and compare the features.

If you intend to buy five new chargers, talk to C.C.A., a site supporting vendor who sells the CTEK.
He might be willing to make you a smoking deal (don't quote me ) since you're buying so many.
His link is in the column to the left on the main menu page. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1577933

I've been using the Deltran Battery Tender for over 10 years. Great product. Personally, I don't think the Ctek is any better or worse.
What I do cringe at is 'Vette owners putting their cars on $10 float chargers they get at K-mart, Harbor Freight, etc.
I've heard this from more than one forum member and I have to disagree. I've got a battery tender plus, that I paid about $60 for on my 04 C5, and harbor freight float chargers (that I paid $4.95 each) on my 78 C3, my lawn tractor my slow blower battery and a 12 V battery I keep on my bench. I can't tell the difference in the way they perform. They all work continually for months at a time, with no adverse effects. And they all do the same thing. Keep the battery charged so when I want to use it, it has a full charge. The only advantage that the high priced battery tender plus has, is the little harness that comes with it that you connect permanently to the battery for easy connect or disconnect.
I have the battery tender from Deltran on my model A and the CTEK 3300 on my 03 vette. I've had both about a year and leave them on whenever I'm not driving either car - which is pretty much most of the time. They both work perfect no problems. I bought the CTEK because I read all the specs and was impressed but not sure it really matters - as was said above - you won't go wrong with either. I think the HF and walmart models may work fine too but I'm not willing to test any of my cars on it- just a little paranoid.
My thought is this--If you want a battery maintainer--they ALL maintain the battery--if you want a 3-4 step charger/maintainer than you need to spend more $$--I think they all maintain the same way--keep the battery fully charged while in storage--right?
.....and Bobby, you know, instead of buying five battery chargers, I could come over and drive a few of those for ya once in a while (no idea what he's got, but if he's looking for 5 chargers, I'm sure theres something "nice" in the garage )
I have 5 Battery Tender plus models, and have used them on motorcycles and yard tractors for 4-5 years with no problems and now have 1 on my 01 vert. Im not ready to take the chance on a low cost (cheap) alternative.
