THE zo6 stock keeps It value MORE then a coupe,to many coupes made.
The ZO6 are great vetts and will get more in demand as the years go on. like the c2 zo6, c4 zr1 and c6 z and THE HARDTOP look much better.

I think Z06s are already in demand. A dealer in my area is asking more for a 02 Z06 than a 06 C6 both low miles.

If your into Speed and Handling you get a Z06, scary fast stock, and you get more confidence going around turns.

You get ALOT more road noise in a Z06.

Z06s DON'T rattle.

If you must have an open top, Coupe or convertible.

ZO6 for me.

I have a coupe, and I wish i bought a FRC. I don't give a crap about taking the top off. Its nice sometimes, but I can just roll the windows down instead. Plus my top leaks.

Me? I would take the Z. If you want the Sport Seats, I bet Gene's Karshop, or Vette2Vette might have a good deal on used ones. If you want the top off, or need an auto, hatchback is the way to go, or the vert.

Sir you have no idea who you are talking to. It's not a performance thing, it's a look thing. Every car I own is smoking fast. My 70 SS LS7 (The Orginal LS7) ran 10.20 at 149 at the track. My 70 Z-28 is a low 12 car, and my 55 2 doo hard top is no 6 cyl. Any one can have a fast car, and there will always be someone faster.

Except with the Z06 vs coupe their is a performance difference. Not true with the 4th gen SS/Z28.

Personally, I think coupes look better. But if you want to be able to say "I have a Z06", then get the Z06. As far a performance is conerned, you can always add power to the coupe. If you want to be able to go 'open top', you have no choice.

I went with the performance and handling of a Z06, there are some fun roads out in Santa Rosa! I like the look of the Z06 better but that might be because only the Z06 and FRC have this body and both were the top performers of their years. Good luck

I wouldn't worry about which one will hold their value better, in reality they are about the same given two with identical mileage and condition. It comes down to personal choice, I could have had a real low mileage Z06 for what I spent, but wanted the removable top, sports seats, extra storage etc. I have the Z51 so suspension wise it rocks. I can't use the full power of my Corvette now, you really need a track to get the extra from the Z06. They are both Corvettes so you can't go wrong either way. It's ridiculous to try and say one is superior over the other, the nice thing is Chevrolet made a version for all of us

Sure a 99 Coupe is cheaper than a Z06......if you compare an 04 Z06 and a 04 Coupe of equal quality there isn't much difference. Just get the one you'll enjoy.

If you like the big back glass, then that is what I would buy. You can upgrade the suspension to your hearts content. Besides, you will save some money not buying the Z06 over a coupe plus the insurance is probably a tad cheaper also.

I bought the Z06.

Seems you've answered your own question. You've not mentioned performance, only a suspension and back window preference. This is the best season to go searching for a good C5 coupe. Good luck!

I say COUPE and buy it a little cheaper and spend the extra on some performance mods!

Slap on a ProCharger and really enjoy the HP and TQ!

Thanks,Matt

I vote coupe. I have had two and loved each one. You can give a coupe ZO6 power and still have the glass top and the topless days in the sun.

Just my $0.02.

To me, it's an ongoing decision. A coupe is a much more sleeker and smooth vehicles, but it lacks rarity. The Z06 has more power, more accelleration, but lacks refinement.

The coupe's back window sweeps, giving it an agressive stance. The Z06 has a bubble compartment, which I don't really care for...the Coupe also has more trunk space.

Contrary to popular belief, the COUPE actually has a higher top speed than a Z06, it just takes longer to get there. So, truth is, i'd go for the....

Coupe. I'll add more stuff later.

Here is my $.02 whether you want it or not!!

I had an 87 (I know it's a big difference) with the removable hardtop etc. Now I have an 02 Z06. I have never owned a coupe C5 but I have ridden in plenty. I think the idea of having a removable top is nice, but in reality I'd say there are quite a few that leave it on most of the time, especially if it is a dd. I did in my 87. The storage area also goes to crap with a roof in there! Please don't be the guy to tell me I'm wrong and that tell me that yours is always off. I realize that many drive with the top off religiously.
Performance wise 50 hp is easy to make up in a coupe, however there are MANY other differences in a Z. 50 hp is one of the least of those. It is an all around better performance package from the engine to the suspension, right down to the thinner windshield to save precious weight. You can make a coupe faster, but look around at your local autocross results or road course results and see what's up top. I think I'm safe in saying that it is rarely a modded coupe, but almost ALWAYS a Z06. There is a reason for that!!!
I love my Z and wouldn't even consider for a second trading it for any coupe on this forum, no matter how much faster the coupe may be. The Z just has more character in my opinion. I think that most Z06 owners would probably agree with me. They are just a lot more special than 50 hp.
Is a turbod up rice rocket Honda better than a C5? NO!! You can easily make them faster for WAY less money. If you know what you're doing you can get the suspension there as well. Performance wise they can be right on par but that isn't what makes a Corvette so special. I think that while a coupe is light years ahead of a ricer in the "special" category and the Z06 is again ahead of the coupe, regardless of compared performance. If that matters to you by a Z06, if not buy a coupe. It's up to you! Buy what you want and forget what everybody else thinks. INCLUDING ME!
