Ok so I just bought my Corvette in Feb at a local auction. I was going to get a Camaro, but got the Corvette for a steal. My friend's all got jealous and started buying newer cars this year (WRX, Mustang, Celica) I beat them all, but one of my friend's is going all out. He just bought a 1995 Mitsubishi VR4. He has upgraded turbo's, AEM EMS, bigger fuel injectors, and exhaust. He's really out to get me (in a friendly way). My Corvette is currently bone stock (I mean it, nothing aftermarket). I'm currently in college with only a part time job. I was wondering what would be the most cost effective way to leave him in the dust. The VR4 is a tank, but it can move, I've driven it a couple times. It's very fast off the line, but looses power on the high end. I don't really care if I beat him, I just dont want my a** handed to me. Thanks for any input.
Tell your friend that you have the "real" thing and he's got a vette wannabe. He may be fast of the line "awd", but yours is lighter and faster at top end. Add CAI and maybe some exhaust and tune.
Look, you have a Vette; you don't have to prove anything to anyone. The Vette is a statement in itself. If somebody talks to you about beating you, it's probably because they don't have a Vette. Enjoy the ride...
Start with cold air induction I installed a Vortec, and Bassani exhaust, and a Big G Programmer for starters, that should give you an additional 40+ horses.

I myself wouldn't care much if a heavily modded, turboed, rice rocket was faster than my bone stock Vette. He even with all the cake spent on his Mitsumushy doesn't have a "Corvette". Be patient, when you're as old as some of us peer pressure falls to zero. Be proud to own what you do at your age.

OK....So you spend a few hundred and beat the ricer. Then a guy comes along with something else that humbles you. Then you spend a few thousand and beat him. But, another guy beats you again. So, now you go to Katech and spend 25-30K. Is that the end?? No it isn't.
There is always somebody that is faster. Now, you can eliminate all the previous steps and go right to Pratt and Miller and spend around 200k and you should be good, for awhile anyway.
Or, you can enjoy your Corvette and ignore the "wannabes" who didn't have the good sense to buy one.

No matter what you do...there's gonna always be someone faster. It's inevitable. There are plenty of modded cars out there that can fly regardless of what make. But you'll always be the head turner, and you'll have the car that most everyone wants.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I have a friend with a camaro ss, and a friend with a ws6. Both are heavily modded...I mean 20+ grand each, and both will blow me away in a straight line at any speed, period. But when we're out I always get the most attention.
