I seem to still have the intermittent starting issue. Thinking of the neutral safety switch but not sure of the location...I have an A4. Last night it did not start first try, but fired right up the next try and also did so this morning. I have replaced the theft deterrent relay, but I am thinking either: battery cables (but doubt it, they are clean and have been tightened), neutral switch, or ignition tumblers (which will end up being a stealer fix, don't think I want to tackle that). Would anyone happen to know the NSS location? Thanks again!
After that I have to tackle the new weird whistling/chirping noise...have to check the belts and tensioners....neverending!!!

You might want to check the VATS chip on your key. Is there any lint or foreign matter that would keep the BCM from reading the chip? The BCM is programmed for a specific resistance value. The BCM measures the voltage drop across the key pellet. If it is within +/-10%, then the car will start.
If you have a second key for the car - does the car start consistently with the second key?

Second key does not work either....and it is virtually new. I know from the forum there have been several different solutions, but my experience and another GM user both needed to have the ignition replaced in other vehicles when this happened, but I'm not ruling out something else. I'll check the battery connections more closely tomorrow. It's just a gremlin right now, but you never know when the car may not start, or if it will eventually start.
