On our trip across the country, my Corvette hit the 100,000 mile marker just outside of Las Vegas. We videotaped the odometer hitting 100k, and as soon as it did we sang "Happy 100k miles to you..."
It was really special, and I wanted to keep it, and post it up on here for you guys to see.
BUT MY DAD RECORDED OVER IT!
Not only did he record over that, but also The Grand Canyon, New Mexico, 4 Corners, Texas, and Las Vegas. Once in a lifetime trip and experiences, I'll never get to see again.
Yikes! Sorry to hear it, I know how much this trip meant to you. Hopefully you still have many more great road trips in the future. Get your Dad a camera for Christmas, give him a big hug and tell him you Love him. Laugh it off and put it behind you. Start planning another trip, soon the odometer will read 111,111 and 123,456.
Glad to hear your Corvette is providing you miles and miles of smiles. And don't be too hard on your dad, like others have said here, you only have one of those, and mine has been gone since 1993, and especially at Christmas-time, I sure do miss the old coot.
Sounds like a good excuse for another trip!!! Just stash the camera from Pops. As someone else mentioned, you have some other milestones coming up.....keep it between the ditches
I'm from the UK and was fostered to a family in the States in 1977. Since then I've kept in touch and every few years go back to your side of the pond to visit. This year was the 30th anniversary of my first visit and we arranged to surprise my foster mother by coming to visit without her knowing anything about it. (planned this for about 3 years!)
Anyway, we (my wife and myself) sprung the surprise on her in a restaurant in northern Minnesota - absolutely in the middle of nowhere. We were there (out of sight) before she and the family arrived. She came in, sat down, made her order etc and then went off to the bathroom. When she came back we were at the table waiting for her. She was speechless and the shock on her face was a picture!
Anyway, we had a woman in the restaurant video the moment for us - but guess what - she didn't press the 'start' button!
Once in a lifetime event -travelled half way round the planet for it and it was missed!
The most important things are your memories of the trip anyway. It sounds like something my Dad would do as well but just sounds like you need to do 2 things now:
1. Arrange another trip but do it bigger and better
