It's been raining here for 2 weeks but we got a dry day today. Took the cover off the Z and out for a nice drive. Tucked in tonight as the white death approaches.
Living in the higher elevations of central oregon where the nights are below freezing 1/2 the nights a year, with daytime temps now running from 15 to a blistering 35 degrees and snow on the ground , I feel your pain.
Sometimes I just go into the Vette gargage and sit in either of the C5s just to feel the leather in my hand and make rummmmm-rummmm noises. The doctor tells me its good therapy.
I send you my condolences my friend. Wishing the warm weather return fast.
At the risk of asking a really dumb question, I have seen several threads where people in cold and snowy climates don't drive their cars in the winter. Is that they don't make adequate snow tires for the vette and/or they're concerned about the damage from the salt put on the road? What are main concerns about winter exposure?
I can't even get out of my driveway or I would be tempted. They plowed the roads and pushed all the snow to the sides. Well that creates a huge mound to get over. The roads in town are pretty much clear but the base housing roads at Warren AFB are completely Iced. The stock tires are slicker than glass on snowy roads. I got caught out once during a blizzard and barely got it home. I am not to concerned with the ice melt treatment they put on the roads. Just gets really dirty. Imagine driving through mud all day.
I am a Southern Man from Alabama put stationed in Wyoming. Huge Change!!! No trees and hurricane force winds all year long. I wish i could move but only three place that has my job and this is the warmest place.
If it makes you feel any better here in South Florida you can drive year around BUT there is also gridlock all year around, no curvy or open country roads all year around, and hotter than hell with 100% humidity all year around except for 2 months, 3 months if we are lucky....

MD, you can always take a drive on I-75 (Alligator Alley) between Ft. Lauderdale & Naples. That's a good open road with of couple turns. Nothing that compares to the Smokey Mtn roads in N. Georgia & North Carolina. I grew up in Broward County.

True. Do drive that once in a while.
My point was directed more to the people that feel frustrated up north in the cold. There are a lot of places that are warmer and people that live there like to taunt the northerners in the winter. I just wanted to offer some perspective, by assuring them that the warm places have their problems too, and our problems don't "go away" with the cycle of the seasons. They are here permanently. The overpopulation, gridlock, lack of good roads never melts; it just gets worse everyday...
i haven't driven mine in about a month. let me tell you, driving a 100 hp Honda Civic hatchback daily is going to make me appreciate mashing the loud pedal in my z when I get to drive it again!

Very true........I agree with your statements.
Now, get in your Z and head down to the Florida Keys You can stop in Islamorada and get a Rum Runner
I have not posted in a while cause my car is stowed away as well. Here in PA, they put down a mix of salt and rocks!! I basically don't drive my car until the rocks wash away. I am not too concerned about the salt.
As far as moving south! Been there and done that - too hot and too many bugs. I will gladly give up two or three months to have nice widnows down (or top down) weather for cruzing and car shows.
