The speed linit on I-10 going through south Texas is now 75 from what I hear from friends that live there. They say they can pass a cop doing 85-90 mph and he wont even bother. Thats good enough for me but I would LOVE no speed limit on long stretched of highway.
Speed limit on IH-10 west of the town of Junction is 80 mph pretty much all the way to El Paso. I got pulled over and ticketed doing 81.
A while back someone was talking about a section of highway where speed limits were removed. Sort of like an American Autobahn. It was only for a certain date or dates. I believe that it was somewhere in the western part of the country. Did I dream it or does anyone else remember that? I tried the search but was unsuccessful.

I highly recommend anyone who loves high speed endurance racing to try this event, I really had a great time and next year I will not be governed speed wise since it will not be my first time at the event. The first time you are there you are supposed to be under 110 mph fortunately they took my NHRA license, and road racing resume into account and I was able to run in the 140 mph class with a top speed off 165. That only being because of not having a fire suppression system. Next year we will be back but with my road racing car which is a little better suited for the task, but my ECS Paxton 346 drag car held it's own out there in the dessert.

Saw mention about it on the History Channel. They did a seigment on the history of the autobahn.
Montana's was during daylight hours "when prudent". Trucks had a speed limit.
Other countries have more intensive driver training. We'll let anyone behind the wheel of a car. Some states will even give a license to illegal's.
