Default How to adjust headlight assembly position ?

Hi,

I have a excessive gap condition at passenger side, top, of headlight box assembly as it relates to the position of the front bumper cover and hood. It has a large to small gap from outside fender, inward and needs to be re-positioned to become flush with bumper cover and hood.

Is there any way to easily re-postion the light assembly ?
I say easily because I am not exactly a canidate for mechanic of the week award, for any given week of the year. (I already kinda tried to pull it back into place though, so I am willing to you know, "get my hands dirty" if need be) unless it is to complicated/hard than I need a body shop or what ???

It looks bad and bothers me for more than one reason. Can anyone please advise me.

Thank you and Happy Holidays.

PS, to bad we can`t talk about other things like me a 67 mustang Hi-po and a silver Vert Turbo Porche. All I can say is, man, I did not even know that Porches could sound like that !

The headlight cover is fixed on by 4 torx screws, 2 at the back and one on each side.

Take off the black plastic trim piece (3 screws) which fits around the headlight.

To take off the cover raise the hood and with the lights still down, take out the rear 2 screws. Then raise the lamps by selecting headlights and kill the lights by backing off to the park position. Remove the other 2 screws on the sides. ift off the cover.

There are 4 white plastic tabs on the headlight housing that adjust the "up and down" position of the cover - in other words to get it to lie flush. If its already flush you dont need to take the cover off

Reposition the cover, fit the two side screws and lower the lights. Take a look at the fit and adjust the position by easing off the side screws and repositioning. Once your happy, refit the rear screws to tighten it back up. You'll need to raise and lower the lights as you make the adjustment. Its a PITA but play with it and you'll get it to fit better.

Refit the black surround

Refit the black surround

The key phrase here is "PITA"!!! To get it right I had to after removing the painted covers adjust the black frame on top of the assembly, put the painted cover back on, close the hood, cycle the lamps, check to see how I did, then disassemble, readjust the black frame, and so on a few times as without the painted covers mounted you don't really know (just small guesses at a time) exactly where you are in your adjustment, then when you do know (because you reinstalled the painted covers) you can't adjust the black frame 'cause the covers hide it! NOTE; When I'm talking about the black frame I'm NOT talking about the surround or bezel held on with 3 phillips head screws, I'm talking about the composite black colored frame that is held onto the headlight assembly with I believe 4 plastic nuts and has slots in it to adjust the painted covers (the covers attaching torx screws go in to it) I found this deal to be very time consuming.

Good points

Hopefully his problem is up, down, left, right. Theres some leeway in the position of the cover so thats adjustable with the torx screws.
