Default Top Down Tech Window Valet

Looking for help, I just plugged this window valet into may Vert, and I wanted to program it, but the first thing on the instruction sheet says:
"Enter "cm" to access User interactive Mode- help me out on this one I have no idea what that is, so apparently, I'm cooked from the start!

Does someone have access to some clear understandable direction that are in plain english- Por favor?

I'm looking at my instructions right now. Each section has a page number. Which page are you looking at? By the way, "CM" stands for configuration mode. Entering that mode is covered in section (or page) 13.

Whatever you do, do not loose these instructions. You WILL need them again and they also contain the code that makes your window valet work. Without that number, you're up sheet creek.

Configuration mode is invoked by holding down the 'reset' button on the Driver's Information Center and pressing and releasing the 'unlock' button on the driver's door. This is done with the ignition key removed from the ignition. Once configuration mode is achieved, the 'reset' button should be released. The Window Valet ™ is now at the Top Level Menu.

All but the earliest C5's can invoke Configuration Mode with a simpler short-cut. Simply press 'reset' on the Driver's Information Center three times in succession, with no more than one second of time between presses.

When Configuration Mode is achieved, the Window Valet ™ responds by causing the Instrument Panel Cluster to triple chime and by moving the tachometer needle to 1K RPM. At this point, any of the menu items are available via the buttons on the Driver's Information Center.

Enter "CM" to access User Interactive Mode:
("CM" => Hold 'reset' while pressing 'unlock')
1 - Panic! mode
2 - Display high speed
1 - clear high speed from memory
3 - Activate accessory power
4 - Enter configuration menu
1 - configure windows [requires PIN]
*1 - disable
2 - enable and calibrate windows (PIN)
3 - window up strength, normal (PIN)
4 - window up strength, strong (PIN)
2 - configure door locks
*1 - disable
2 - active on hand brake
3 - active on transmission in PARK
4 - active for both 2 and 3
3 - configure accessory power
1 - disable control
2 - activate power on exit
*3 - activate power on triple unlock via FOB
4 - active for both 2 and 3
5 - adjust accessory power timeout
1 - 30 seconds
2 - 5 minutes
*3 - 15 minutes
4 - restore factory defaults (marked with *'s)
1 - restore now
(Press reset to exit and cancel any incomplete changes)

Hope this helps out.

Here's a more direct link to the online instructions that I was referring to:

Make sure that you have Adobe Reader installed on your computer before clicking this link.

Ok I got some feature to work..
I bought this off of the forum and so it was pre programmed. But the windows when they went up they came right back down. After messing with it for a while, I actually cancelled out this function,. the part that puzzles me now is; They say something about a disclaimer and a serial number. Ok, mine didn't come with one, can I just read it off the unit itself?

You just need to adjust the window stops. The "how to" is in the instructions. It's one of the really cool features of the valet.

Hey Junkman,
Thanks again for your help. I haven't been driving much lately. i just been staying around the house doing some end of year cleaning etc. but when I finally took the valet out and read the digits and installed again ad followed the directions carefully, it was a breeze as you know. That is definitely a necessary mod. I put off getting one for the longest time for being a cheapskate that's why i waited until I got a "deal" before I bought one, but living without one of these is just plain stupid!

one curiosity; what was the port for where that valet plugs into originally intended ?

Yea, they use that for diagnostics and stuff. You're right about this mod, especially if you own a coupe. If you try to close the hatch when the windows are up, the hatch is hard to close. So you have to open a door or have a window cracked. Plus, when you're trying to get into the car and its a tight squeeze, you have to climb in the car and let the windows down.

This mod has solved all of those problems. For the cost of the mod, its the best bang for the buck. If you only do one mod, this one should be it.

I have had mine for a while now and think that it is the greatest. Try using the high speed function. It will tell you the top speed that the car has been driven. Came in handy for the Kerbeck's Toys for Tots run.
