Default Update on accident repairs

Here's a video of car at the scene.
[IMG][/IMG]

Some pics after the tear down to uncover all the damage.

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

Left front wheel damage.
[IMG][/IMG]

Broken left steering knuckle
[IMG][/IMG]

Dent in drivers side exhaust can.
[IMG][/IMG]

all damaged pieces removed from front end.
[IMG][/IMG]

Found my original build sheet hiding in the front frame rail
[IMG][/IMG]

Progress of getting the car back together.
Apparently Corvettes not as easy as a "regular" car.........lots of fitment time......pieces have to be painted off the car then reassembled.
Said they'd probably have the car another few weeks.
At this point they can have it all winter long as far as I'm concerned.
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

New door gets 1 shot of paint before the guts get transplanted from the damaged door.
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

A vid of where things are at at this point.
[IMG][/IMG]

Anyone interested in some of my damaged parts let me know.
I'm going to be selling
Wheels/tires
Windshield/rear window/drivers window.......they have scratches
Damaged Vararam that is repairable
drivers mirror has good motor
door guards

Anyone with a 18/19 CCW SP500 set of wheels(and tires) I am interested, will not be able to come up with cash until payment is settled with body shop.

Painful to see but at least it is on the road to recovery.

I got to ask. I wonder how the rear fenders were removed, especially the 2-3 screws under the roof, got to look between the fender and roof. I have wondered how to get to those.

Good to see some progress being made on the car. The paint will be way better than new. Nothing like a good clean black car. Keep the pics coming.

Were all the wheels hurt in the wreck? I have been wanting a set for mine.

The pic of the front left wheel is the worst one, also the right rear wheel has some previous curb rash that is no where near as bad the the pic posted. the other 2 look fine, maybe a few blemishes on the inside of the wheel but hardly noticable. The tires are only a couple of months old.......let me know if your interested....

Yea, paint will be back to better than factory.......be glad to be rid of the chips in the hood...........I was told a few months of curing before I can put the 3M film on it, which I definitely plan to do.

Not sure how they do that, I was told that there is alot of "trimming" that has to be done and that once the door is hung then everything else will be fitted to that...........alot of these body panels are put on with glue????........the whole door sill is glued at the bottom onto the frame it's self.........once door is on the fenders can be put in place, then the rear bumper will be removed for painting........was told if it's painted in place it will peal with in a year at the seams.

I miss my car very badly............right now I'm driving a 1994 olds cutless that is a total POS............but with the roads and weather being as bad as it has been lately it makes it easier to deal with........it would be nice to just sit in it though.......

Default How much for the tires?

My Z needs a new pair of shoes. Let me know on the tires that aren't damaged.

I feel your pain. Are you paying out of pocket for the repairs?? Just asking bc you mentioned you had to settle up with the body shop.

The body shop told me I had $1,100 to repair the damage to my wheels.
Well 1st off it's not going to cost that much to repair the wheels and for that cost I can get some polished wheels instead.
However the check for those "repairs" is made out to the body shop and myself. So before this money becomes available I have to wait till all repair work is done and the body shop will give me the $1,100 since I'm either getting the wheels repaired myself or I get different wheels.
But by doing it on my own I have to cough up the cash to do so 1st.
What I really want is to get new wheels (CCW SP500) in a 18/19 combo witch means I'll need to get new tires......... which I just did a few months ago... So depending on what I get for my wheels and tire will depend on if I get them before or after I settle up with the body shop.......(I'm also not replacing my cat back exhaust system that I'm getting credit for, as just a dent in the drivers side can is not going to bother me that much......not to mention I have a friend who it going to try to remove the dent for me anyway.........This savings will be paying for my $1k deductable

My Z needs a new pair of shoes. Let me know on the tires that aren't damaged
Here is a link to what the tires are and when I bought them.
All 4 are in good condition......other than seeing what little scrapes show where car was going sideways.......a days worth of driving and that will be gone.
I like these tires.........definitely not a winter or cold weather tire, but hook great in the summer, have a great ride......have a nice Wide look with the 315's in the back.
SilverRaven; make me an offer and I'll let you know.
If I separate the wheels and tires it will leave me comitted to having to get new tires for the 18/19 combo if I don't come up with the sale of both I need the tire to put on some polished C5Z wheels for now.

Good to see the repairs are coming along ... looks like a lot of work !

So is there any way to get a build sheet out without wrecking the car first?

You should be happy... they're doing a good job and doing it all correctly

The front 3 screws holding the quarter on are not tight... the quarter panel is slotted and it slides up under them. Here's a shot from my current project showing that

I supose you could have the nose removed to get to it.
My Mech. has had people have him do that just to get the build sheet out for them.

What's your project?
Are you putting on wider rear fenders?

Looks like they are doing a very good job!!!!

Like u said it would be cool to do some body mods to the car. Wider fenders, new front end...a lot of possibilties! Oh well all it takes is Do Ra Me.

By the way are the rims straight and if so what do want for them?

Sorry to see this terrible misfortune. Thank you for taking the time in creating this post. It's always interesting to see a build process. I hope all things work out in the end.

Yeah, had I gone to a "regular body shop" and not a dealer, I probably could have gotten alot of things done all at the expense of the insurance company........but making sure my car was done right was more important to me at this point.
As for now the only "change" I'll be doing at the insurance companies expense is getting new wheels........I could easily get some Polished Z wheels for what I'm being given to recondition these.

Not sure what to ask for the rims or tires as a seperate purchase, as I just got these tires I'm not looking to take a huge hit on them, and not sure what these wheels are worth.
right front and left rear are fine no damage......my right rear has some curb rash from........well a curb, it's not deep but about 4-5" long , it's actually not all that noticable from a coulpe of feet away, the left front has the worst damage, it's the one in the pic.
As you can see the tire was pushed back off the bead some, so you can see all of the damage.....it's more like road rash than curb rash.
aired the tire back up and bead poped right back into place, damage looks alot better with the tire in it's proper place........I'm sure this wheel could be used as is for track duty. I was told that the 2 damaged ones can be reconditioned to like new for $145/wheel, which others have stated that seems a bit pricey, but I've only called one place.
I was thinking of asking $1,150+ shipping for wheels and tires.......not really sure if this is out of line or not........but I'm almost thinking that's what they are "worth" to me........Who knows I just may keep them if the value doesn't offer that much help in getting the CCW's that I want....I may end up just having to settle for polished wheels and reusing the tires for now..........I've also contemplated just having these machined and polished (depending on the cost).

If anyone could offer a suggested price I should ask for these wheels and or tires, it would be greatly appreciated...

Doing it right is first priority. Hopefully she'll be good as new after they finish.

If you end up separating the wheels from the tires I'd be interested in the wheels for a set of my race tires as long as they are straight. Road/curb rash not a problem if the Price is Right.
