The 9006 bulb also fits my 05 chevy silverado truck, so I bought 2 kits.

Default eBay purchase

I just picked some up from this vendor on eBay, I'll post the results.

BTW, I made the vendor a low offer and he took it.

Default These lights are awesome

I finished upgrading to Xenon HID lights and it made a huge difference. I have a 2001 coupe, here are some details about the installation:

1. Remove the three screw bezel around the light and then the 4 screw cover. You should be able to now see the hinge screws the assembly pivots on.
2. Remove the 2 hinge screws that the assembly pivots on. Other members noted to be careful as these screws have loctite and are difficult to remove. I used a wrench and torx screwdriver and unscrewed them slowly and carefully.
3. At this point, I didn't remove any other screws. The assembly falls forward and is only connected by the motor arm. Simply pull out the old 9006 lights and install the new ones. I then used a bungee cord connected to the hood latches on the hood to hold the assembly back, up, and out of the way. Install the ballasts down low, mounted to the front of the wheel wells. I didn't do anything special to run the wires, my lights went up and down without interference.
4. Put everything back, it was easier than I thought it would be, didn't require any adjusting.
5. First side took 1.5 hours, other side took .5 hours.

Total cost was less than $100 and it was well worth it.

Chris

I installed some HID's I bought off "the big auction site" for 80 bucks, they have been working flawlessly for the past 4 months.

here is the install guide I used, hope this helps!

HID's without projectors = rice (blinding others is a safety hazard, but people rather look "good").

HID + projectors = well done.

That's one opinion (fixed)...

Some of us just can't drop the $$ for true projectors, but need the extra light output.
I decided it was time for HID's the morning I hit a deer carcase because I didn't see it in time with the stock headlights (45-50 mph).

I haven't had anyone flash their lights at me yet (thinking I have on the high beams). So maybe I have them aimed a bit more conservative, but they really light up the road in front of me.
Well worth the $200 total (I installed relays to avoid the pop-up problem).

Chris,

Where did you pick up the HIDs from? Please PM me if you don't want to post it. Also, did you just do the low beams, or the high beams as well?

Thanks,
Steve

well to me, the car looks cheap having HID's with no projectors,

i'd keep the stock lighting if i can't go full projectors...

i understand the $ issue though...

You do know that cars had xenon lights before projectors hit the market right? Acuras and Mercedes had xenon lights before they had projectors. It's not rice, its better light output PERIOD.

Projectors will still blind people everytime you hit a dip in the road it looks like the car flashed it's highbeams.

No question projectors look better and have that awesome cutoff but there is nothing wrong with running 6k and lower xenon lights without projectors.
