I have not seen threads lately regarding the HID upgrades available from a supporting vendor. Are these kits still reliable and considered a good upgrade. I have got to do something about these lights (or lack there of). Thanks
Hi there. I purchased the 6000K low beam kit from our vendor in Houston a few months ago--after years of complaining about my lights. They are fantastic. It was plug and play and until last week worked perfectly. All of a sudden I "sometimes" have to recycle the headlight switch off/on the first time I turn them on that day for the headlight doors to open. So I changed the two recommended fuses but that has had no effect. The lights always come on and the doors always close. I have sent our threads on a couple of sites but it seems I'm the only one with this issue??!! I e-mailed the vendor but have not heard from him yet--although I spoke with him at length before I purchased them and paid a little extra for his kit. All my components are made in Taiwan and Mainland China (so what else is new?) E-mail me back channel at melsy@bellsouth.net and we can discuss--especially sinve we are in the same time zone. Hope this helps. Yes, I would do it again--and--you will never use or need your high beams again--unless you really live in the boondocks.
A buddy of mine wholesales the hid kits in california, I put mine on about 1-2 months ago 6000k No problems at all. Plus it has a one year warranty. I will put some pics upp. Price was $175 and it was the best $175 dollers I spent on the car.
I purchased the same months ago and it's a BIG difference. Money well spent. As for the headlight door issue, you have to let the engine run a few seconds to build the current needed for the doors to open if you have this problem. I started having the problem, emailed, got an answer, and followed them since then. No more problems. I just let the engine run for about five seconds before turning on the lights. It's a habit now.
Thanks to all of you. Great info. I will try the engine idle trick and see if that works. But like so many said, the best money I have spent on the car in my 5 years of ownership--except--maybe for activating and adding the TPS system.
Don't confuse the HID retro-fit kits with ACA HID projector systems. ACA HID units are complete systems (housing/lens/ballasts/wiring,etc.) designed from the start for HID technology. Glass lensed projectors focus the light and provides a tight beam and sharp cutoff. You are not going to get that from a retro-fit kit...although anything is better than stock.
The HID guy in Houston is one of our sponsors--near the bottom if you scroll down the list on the left. Here it is <http://www.djmotorsportaccessories.com/
Tell us how it goes.

I have tried your recommendation the last two days--and--it works!! I hope this is the solution. You are the only person on all the various Vette web sites who also had this situation AND had an answer. I had e-mailed the guy in Houston but not heard back from him yet. Thanks all for your inputs. BTW, I agree that a retrofit may not be as good as dedicated projector lenses, but they are great and almost the equal of the C6 Vette lights. I have put my car (6000K) next to my buddies '06 at night and the similarity is amazing. I can see again!! Why didn't I do it sooner??
The HID projectors are the only way to go... they have a true cut-off so you won't blind other drivers.
The nighttime visibility is so vastly improved it's ridiculous. I don't even need to use the PIAA fog lights anymore-- they really helped out with the stock headlights, but now I can't even tell when they're on.
The projectores look great! They really update the look of the front end. I must say though, my $35 Silverstar Ultras are definitely an improvement over stock. If I drove a lot more at night the projectors would be a great upgrade.

What percent approximately would you guys say is the improvement over stock? i really don't drive much at night, except back from the track, so saving a few $$ and increasing visibility would be great. Any part numbers? Thanks
