I know this light goes out x number of minutes after the hood is raised; wondering is anyone sells or has rigged up a switch so the light can be turned off for car shows or whatever? Thanks!
See post # 3; I thought I read somewhere somebody had done a switch for car shows and it would be something to do while the car is hibernating this winter. Do I need it - no.
Yeah, but you don't have a switch; as Radio Flyer says, switches are
Ecklers, Mid America has trick ready made waterproof switches for $40 or so, but there is nothing like the satisfaction of Shadetree engineering. There has gotta be a trick idea out there.
Hey John, Follow the wire down from the light (on the passenger side)
it goes down between you raditor shroud and the frame, about 4in. from the top of the frame is a connector plug(blue on top). Just lift up on front of the plug and pull the top out. I would say all C5s are the same on this. Mine was unpluged when I picked the 04 new. There is plenty of room to get your hands in to plug or unplug it. HEB

Guy wants a switch to turn his light off.........help him with an answer, not rag on him. Here is what you are looking for. I got one and love it. I to do not like my light on for 5+ minutes while the hood is up. Got mine from Ecklers, $40. Simple plug and play. Have to pop out the first couple hood blanket thingys to get your hand under the fabric to reach the light. Easy to do. P/N 50421.

Why not just unplug it when you get to the show and plug it back in when you leave? The plug is easily accessible on the passenger side down near the bottom of the radiator shroud.

This forum, while and excellent resource for information, is also a great source for practical advice. Why sit idly by and watch a fellow board member waste money on something that isn't needed or even worse, hack into his cars wiring, no matter how simple.
If the car already has a really nicely engineered timed switch that shuts the light off after only a few minutes, why hack in redundant lower tech manual toggle? Its just not a wise move.
