M is a special series by BMW, and an M3 is made on the chasis of a 3 series BMW with a high powered engine in it. They have been made since 1986 and the one in the video is the E46 or the 3rd generation produced from 01-06. Here are some specs for the car:
333HP@7,900RPM
262TQ@4,900RPM
3.2 Liter, Inline 6, 4 valves per cylinder, Weight 3,400 lbs, 6 spd manual (also comes in SMG), rear wheel drive of course.
That's some quick basic info on the M3, hope it helps.

What's up bud, I see you posted this on the M3forum. I'll have to check it out

Thanks,I know nothing about BMW's except my wifey wants a 745 series. and a 5something almost spanked me once.
M3's games don't live on a drag strip but rather on a track. They are for sure no joke when it comes to handling and in fact, could probably take an FRC. Now a z06 is another story
EDIT: By take I mean take corners faster but the straight aways it is still the corvettes ball park.

M3 is not the best car for the drag strip, but it's a sports car and it's made to go fast so why not take it out there. It's faster on the 1/4 mile than any stock Mustang GT no matter what year or faster than most Z28's etc. which are cars that are made for the drag strip.
M3s are very nice cars in performance and handling. Though not my style, as they look too reserved for me and of course there is a lack of torque in a naturally aspirated 3.2 I6, but I would like to drive one. Glad you all had fun at the track.
they're nice cars and do very well, however in the "stock" racing/autoX classes, they're not even in the same class as the vette.
SCCA club racing
C5/C6 = T1
M3 = T2.
Stock v Stock, corvette should win everytime on any track.
I saw your pics of the Vette at Nürburgring. Did you live in Germany and shipped the car there or is it one of those cars you can rent at the Ring? Also how did the Vette perform at the worlds best track?

was stationed at Ramstein AB from 2003-2006, so the ring was a 100m drive (about an hour). Spent many weekends up there. Corvettes are right at home on the ring and are as safe and reliable as anything else out there.
