Default adding HUD, need input

would like to install HUD to my 1999 FRC, I have two questions #1
where can I find a 11 pin wiring harness, and #2 where the projector
plugs into the back of the cluster do I need a special plug end or does
the complete cluster need to be replaced? If the cluster needs a special end to plug in the projector, can it be purchased at my local
dealer. THANKS Davek515

You will need both the HUD of course as well as a HUD capable instrument cluster and the HUD Controller(left side of cluster). I think you will also need to have the BCM re-programmed with the hud's RPO code...but I'm truly not sure of that. As you already know, you will have to cut the hole in the dash cover. Don't forget that you will also need to update your mileage into the new cluster to stay legal.

Hi davek515, My '99 vert had a compatable dash and I installed the HUD with no problem. There was no need to recalibrate anything. There was a forum member here that sold the package including the pin connector. Right now I can't remember his name, maybe Josh? Anyway, try to find the archived posts, there are many, about this mod. You'll like it!

I've got an extra instrument cluster that I bought as a replacement part for the highvoltage assembly on the rear of it. I never used it. Got it off ebay about two years ago. If you want it, PM me and I'll sell it for what I paid for it plus whatever shipping you wish. No, I've never installed it but its in perfect condition.. for a '99 with a HUD.

Check with Josh at PaceThis He's a great guy and a true gentleman. He will ahve all you need. I Did My 2000 with his kit and it worked out well. I believe some of the late1999 c5's had a cluster with the socket already in it. check with josh! also some of the writ ups say you can solder the wires to the cluster if yours isnt compatible. again talk with josh and all will be solved...

Good luck and you will love your hud!!!

Check with Josh about getting the components for the HUD install (as well as the wiring harness). I did this install on my 99 and the instrument cluster was already HUD capable (many 99's are). There is no re-programming required for this type of install.
