I am getting ready to install stainless steel insert and would like to hear some tips on the installation. Want the best looking job possible. Thanks in advance guys.
Most people will just tell you to prep according to the directions. I did this, and had my "R" fall off within 30 days. I complained to SS and they sent me a new one after telling me it was 100% my lack of prep. I had a local guy who had put 3+ sets on his vettes come over to help me out, same result pretty much except this time only half fell off. To this day my "R" is clinging to life but hasn't moved in months. If it does eventually fall off I plan on going somewhere else.

Cleaning the area is the most important part of this process!
Take your time and place them right as I have seen lots of vettes with misaligned lettering.
you cannot get the mounting surface too clean! denatured alcohol, then adhesion promoter. surface temp minimum 65-70. press firmly and don't get in a hurry.
To ensure a rock hard adhesion, and advice from the forum, I used waterproof epoxy. Peel off adhesive does not guarantee a permanent hold. Epoxy does. I also aided the prep by putting a very small piece of light grit sandpaper on the end of a pencil eraser to texture the surface.
Combined with a poor prep and a few car washes, those real expensive letters stuck on with sticky tape adhesive can fall off quickly. HTH
Great tips...I have some on the way, so I will be taking all of this advice. I like the idea of the sand paper on the pencil eraser trick. Did you get your waterproof stuff at Lowe's or more like Autozone kinda place?

That would be great if you never want to take them off!

Are you installing them on the front or the back - or both? The other thing to remember is to make sure that you utilize the adhesive promoter that they provide with the letters. It will help the adhesive adhere better.
If you are installing the letters in the front - you need to slightly bend the "V" because it hits rights at the bend on the cover. In the back, I would strongly recommend that you dry fit the letters first. Good luck!
Would weatherstrip adhesive be better than what they send with the letters, or as good as epoxy mentioned above? I have a set of ss inserts ready to go on next spring, want to make sure they stay on, could never get the cheap ones to stay on!
I bought a tube of weatherstrip adhesive to finally get my hood seal to stay on, now don't know when I'll use the rest of the tube.
