Well things have been busy around the house for a couple months and I haven't started the Z06 since mid Oct. I went out last sat to start it and it turned over once and I got the dreaded clicity click! I went out yesterday and put the trickle charger on it and left it for about 4hrs. Unplugged it during the night and plugged it back in this morning for a couple hours. Went out a while ago and NOTHING. I unhooked the trickle charger and rehooked it and got a strange humming and clicking sound??? Any ideas? It has no charge and won't even light the lights inside. When it was doing the clicking after rehooking the charger the inside lights flashed also. HELP !!!!!

I would start with a NEW Battery and NEW terminals connectors , without having that as a reference you may never know what you are chasing.
reality says there is probably nothing wrong with the car that a good Battery fully charged will not fix. A sitting car that has not been running generally doesn't go bad. Sitting Batteries can and do.

Get a new battery, after mine drained it made all kinds or weird noises. I bet if you jump it it will start, a trickle charger probably doesn't have enough to start itself. good luck
Good time to get a yellow or red top optima battery. Have your trickle charge hooked up whenever car is not in use. Dissconect the conection of underhood light and electrical tape the ends . These Z's eat an original battery up in about 24 to 36 mo., max if you don't trickle charge. Ask me how I know. Good luck, Bob.
Read the manual ...... hook a floating trickle charger on the car anytime the car is left idle for three weeks or more. You can hook it right up to the battery (without disconnecting the terminals) and leave it if using a 1 amp charger.
If put into storage , (more than a month) diconnect the negative battery cable and attach a Battery Tender ( brand name) ( or floating trickle charger ) described above.
Thanks to all! I was goinig to start with the battery but thought there might be something I was missing. I allways turn to this site for good solid info!!! I am getting ready to sell my Z ,I hate to but money is getting tight and it has to go. But I want to make sure it is a 100%.
This is the nicest car I have ever had and I hate to have to get rid of it. THANKS AGAIN !!! HOOVY
A trickle charger for only 4 hours will not do much, especially since a dead battery tries to resist charging at first.
If you have a 650 Amp battery and you are trying to charge it at 1 amp/hr rate, it could take a long time.

In three months time, your remote control receiver will have drained your battery totally dead and it will be heavily sulfated. If you get one of the new chargers that detect sulfation and use special wave forms to break up the sulfation, you might be able to revive it. 4 hours with a trickle charger probably won't cut it. The humming comes from having the car electronics trying to run off of the trickle charger voltage which has a 120 hz hum in it. If the battery were able to supply any amount of current, it would probably diminish the amount of hum to the point where you wouldn't notice it. The fact that you hear it so loud means that your battery hasn't accepted any charge during the 4 hours you had the trickle charger on it.
OTOH, if you haven't cleaned your battery posts, and they are corroded to the point of having no connection to the cable, then possibly the battery is still good, and the trickle charge is not recharging it because of the corrosion. This condition would exhibit the same loud humming when you try to start the car using only the trickle charger voltage.
I reread your post. You stated that the car turned over once and then couldn't do it any more. That means your battery still had some juice in it and the cable connections were good enough to attempt a start. In all probability, your battery isn't sulfated. More likely is that some corrosion on the outside of your battery cables kept the trickle charger from recharging the battery for the bulk of the 4 hours, but then when you started it again you some how made a good enough connection to get the hum into your system. I suggest you start by cleaning your battery connections and then using your trickle charger overnight on the battery alone with the ground cable disconnected. You may have to round up a bolt to put in the negative battery post so that you have some thing to clamp the charger on.
The exact same thing happened to my 2005 vert yesterday. It had sat for three weeks with tender and the door would not open. I got in with the key. Then I got a no FOB detected message. I hooked up the tender and got all kinds of clicking and lights flashing. So, it now sits with the negative cable disconnected as I mull over whether to try to get a free warranty replacement or purchase a better battery. Good luck.
One of the things that I question about these cars is the seat memory.
every time ya get in or out, every time you press the KEY the dang seat moves..yeh, if you are in the car you can shut down the seat movement before getting out...
I'll bet the battery loves this
I'll bet the power seat motor loves it too !
I'll bet GM loves it when cars come in for a NEW seat motor !
