Lately when I start the car all my gauges seem to reset on the HUD and on the DIC. My MPG resets, along with other bits of info.
Could my battery be going out? I checked the battery voltage when I'm driving and it reads approx 14-14.2
Load test good idea, but short term, just turn the ignition to the ON position (not the Acccessories position) but don't start the car. Give the gauge a little time to read accurately and what shows is the level of volts your battery stands at. If less than about 10.5 volts on the gauge, a load test may tell you a new battery is in order.
Remember the DIC voltage is only accurate when the car is running. Check with a multi meter across the terminals
Remember the gauge reading when the key is ON and the car isn't running is the battery's charge read out. When the car is running, it's the alternator charging level that's reading out.
Been there, when cranking voltage falls below about 8.5 volts, it erases these memories. You can try charging the battery. I load tested mine, my 800 CCA tested at 250 CCA and was bad.
I only use AGM batteries in my C5, since the computer is under the battery. Optima, Sears Platinum, Excide are AGM, be prpared to spend over $150.

DeeGee is correct. The car's voltmeter was mainly designed to measure the output voltage of the alternator when the engine is running. There will be a certain amount of voltage drop from the battery to the voltage meter when the engine is turned off and you cannot get an accurate reading as to the battery's state of charge using the car's voltmeter. In order to get an accurate reading of the battery's state of charge, you will need to take a voltage reading directly at the battery terminals using an accurate digital volt-ohm meter (DVOM). Too, this will only tell you the battery's state of charge. One will also need to do a load test to fully check out the condition of the battery. The following link contains more info on the proper way to test a battery:
You need Handheld voltmeter from an autoparts store or even a wal mart. Measure the voltage across the battery. It should be between 11.5-12.5 volts. Anything below 11.5 is suspect and below 11 means you need a new battery now.
....or you could get your local auto parts store to check it for you.

Check your terminals for corrosian before you jump to any conclusions.

Check all the battery/alternator wires, too. Mine had fried and pulled loose from the alternator. I had all sorts of elecrical gremlins until I finally realized what happened after the wire came all the way loose.
