Default Wheel Lock

I have a 2001 with polished rims.

Replacing one of my rims because it had alittle curb rash.

I'm sure the rims have a wheel lock on them. Where is the key lock located in the car? It's not in the glovebox and middle console.

Perhaps I'm missing mine?

Did you try looking in one of the cargo storage areas in the trunk?

Careful with that wheel lock key. If it's not on all the way and slips once or twice and can't get a decent grip anymore, you could have fun getting the locking wheel nuts off!!

The first time I slipped with mine (my fault I'm sure), I got rid of them!!

My two cents on wheel locks!

Frickin' bummer.....

Somebody put it in my ashtray before I bought the car. I put it back in the compartment where it is supposed to be. Have you looked under your seats and anywhere it might have rolled and holed up??

There's other options to "cut it off?" if you do a search this forum in C5 Tech (in the red banner) using keywords "wheel locks"...

You can get it off with a deep well socket, had the tire store lose mine .Can't remember the size socket but it was a 12point deep well, keep trying socket sizes it will come right off.

The metal is so soft you could probably just hammer on any kind of socket to get them off. You might be able to get them off with some good vice grips. They didn't instill any confidence with me, so I replaced them with a set of good aftermarket wheel locks.

Some dealers and tire companies also carry master sets that allow them to remove the locking lugs. Cutting would be the last ditch effort as you may damage the stud.

I ran into the same issue the first time I tried to pull the wheels. Key locks on all wheels and no lock in the car. I bought an extra set of lugnuts local and had the dealer quickly cut the locks off. At first the service dept said they couldn't remove them. When I then went to parts I ran into a tech who got this done. Very easy and very quick. Based on where I usually park I don't need the locks. Before this I tried several of the ways listed above to remove them.
