Default C5 back licence plate trim

Not sure how but the black trim that goes around the back licence plate is missing from my car. It either fell off or it got stolen at a show (I would think that wouldn't happen at a Vette show). The big problem is I can't find this part any where and I really don't want to pay thru the nose at the dealer. Any suggestions?

I'm missing mine as well. Been trying to find one (although, I admit I haven't tried all that hard). I'll keep an eye on this thread. Good luck!

I really doubt if it fell off. Those things snap on real tight Get it from your dealer and see if he will give you a discount. You can buy them to match your car color on line. Also you can paint it yourself with spray paint from your Chevy dealer.

You can buy one from either Ecklers or Corvette America (can't remember which one) for about $65.

There is a GM # 16523797 on the frame itself, but that # doesn't come up on either GM Parts House, or GM Parts Direct site's databases.

Might call Gene @ GM Parts House, or your local dealer to run that part # and see what pops up. It only looks like a $5.00 part.

I think it's about 30 bucks from the dealer. You might want to check that online auction site, I was looking for one after I got my car and a fellow forum member (thanks again krm_wi_c5!) was kind enough to point me there. I got both the back and front plate trim for about 50 bucks.

I didn't even know the piece even existed till I brought the Z to the Corvette Center here in Colorado Springs. The one guy looked the car over and spotted it was missing...

oh well he had ONE in stock and a very nice used 2001 Z06 owners manual!!! I don't think I really needed either of them but I like the car to have everything its supposed too, plus the plastic piece looks good and the manual HAS come in handy!!!

Me too....I'd rather have my own frame than that piece of plain black plastic....

You might post over in the parts for sale/wanted forum, that is where I got mine for a really good price from a really nice fellow forum member. Good luck!

I got a color coded trim from Kewl Auto

I think I heard that they were having trouble getting decent quality with the new trims. They may have discontinued the product.

I got my painted one from Kewl Auto also. But if you don't want to go that route, give Gene at GMPartsHouse a call for a new one or Gene at the KarShop and see if he has a used one.
