Can anybody comment on the tool that plugs into the aux on a stock vette? I live in Phx and the FM transmitters do not work here because of all the damn spanish channels!!!
Any comments on these? I want to keep my stock radio but do not want to spend a fortune. These range from 100-200 most places and seem like a good idea in concept. Just wondering if anybody has done this?
there is a good "Ipod to car" converter. It comes with most needed cables. I had the cd changer already in the rear so I unhooked the cd chgr and connected the I2c converter. works and sounds a gozillion times betta than my old FM transmitter. I download sports podcasts and they sound great.
$100 at best buy.
I got the Pac Audio 'isimple' from Best Buy but because I don't have the factory CD changer I had to get yet another harness to make it work. I does work great now though. Awsome mod, no more CD's sliding around the car.
To plug a device into the AUX input you need 2 things: A 12 disk changer cable, and GMAUX-10. If you have a 12 disk changer, you're 1/2 way there. If not, you need the COR-HAR (GM does not sell the cable on it own, so you have to go aftermarket...). The COR-HAR plugs in under the passenger side footboard. The GMAUX-10 plugs into the COR-HAR and an RCA stereo jack plugs into the GMAUX.
This setup allows your MP3 player to be a hardwired, aux device - selectable with the AUX button. This will work with any device that has a stereo out. Now if you want to talk iPod specific applications, if you want to do it, do it right:

We just removed our Peripheral ISGM73 iPod adapter along with the Peripherals harness. It does not have the iPod holder. We have it for sale for $60.
Go to BestBuy and get the ISIMPLE. Its easy and works well. I have had mine for 6 months and it works well. Its not an FM transmitter.
This works great. It's $100 from BB. I also got it a few months ago and have been using it every day since. It charges your ipod, you can click to go to the next track on your OEM head unit, and is easy to install. Now instead of a few CD's I have my whole collection with me, well most of it. And I live in Los Angeles, so I know how you feel with not having an open station to use for the FM transmitters. This unit also works right out of the box if you have a disc changer that gets disabled. If not you need another cable.
Not to hijack this thread, but I have a 2000 Vert with a IPOD to car cable installed. Sounds and works great. I would like to add a XM Satellite (XpressRC).
What is the easiest way to have both IPOD and Satellite?

I just installed the Best Buy one and it rocks. It was easy (a caveman could do it) and sounds great without any holes in my dash. The best part is i do not have to listen to all the crap on the mexico stations here!
I also have an XM adaptor that i can switch if i decide to. I found if i want both, i have to tie it into the antenna and use a transmitter that overtakes the broadcast channel.
