Default External XM Mount

Has anyone ever used a mount like this to mount their external XM receiver in a C5? How easy was the instal and what tools were involved? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I mounted mine behind the flap of the ashtray. I can close the ashtray and it looks absolutely bone stock.....like the rest of my car!

Currently the cables are all running through the ashtray under the center consol behind the pass seat(under the carpet) the antenna in mounted dead center on top of the rear window. I have the FM Clip and it is mounted inside the rear window just below the antenna clip. The only cable visible is the power cable that runs into the ashtray area under the center consol and then into the center glove box to the power supply enclosed.

I mounted mine behind the flap of the ashtray. I can close the ashtray and it looks absolutely bone stock.....like the rest of my car!
The unit I have is too big to fit in the ashtray with out modifications. That was my goal but I don't want to rip apart the dash and cut a larger hole in the ashtray area.

Connected to power in dash.wiring is hidden in the dash.takeoff the dash top and you'll be able to hide everything and will be a spotless hookup.jerry

Is this that Pro Clip Mount? How much weight do you think this will hold? I'm thinking about getting this to hold my TomTom 910.

The TomTom can't be much heavier than the MYFI.Yes,its the proclip. The clip is solid once its in,you'll really have to torque it for it to come loose. If it come loose its taking dash with it.jerry

This is the 910 though, they are a little bigger than the newer ones, maybe a couple pounds. Still think it'll hold?

I glued my cup holder door shut and mounted my MyFi on top of that.

Tjis may be another option for you

Proclip retail a series of clip on holders for all sorts of devices. I'm sure thy'd have one for XM although I haven't looked too hard. I got one for my PDA a while ago. they clip on to the edge of the radio bezel and can be removed when not in use.

Heres the link

http://www.proclipusa.com/devicehold...ceholders.aspx

I'm sure this is OK to post as I don't know of a Forum Vendor that sells them so theyre not competing.
