Well there is for sure nothing special about the car its its just a normal FRC however everyone is saying not rare. I kind of disagree. I am ALWAYS keeping my eye out for vettes when driving and it is actually VERY rare that you see a non-Z06 hardtop driving around. However they are usually available on the forums or ebay for sale so I guess in that sense not to hard to find one. As for the price it is a tad high not outrageous though. I sold my showroom condition pewter 99 FRC last year with 36,000 miles with a few tasteful upgrades for $22,000. Hope this helps.
Mine is rare I think. It is a Torch Red '02 vert. It's driven almost every day, never put away for the winter, driven in the rain, and frequently dirty.

The hardtop or FRC accounted for 4,031 cars in 1999 or 12% of the production. As far as rare, not really but it was the first year of the FRC and they were offered in smaller numbers than the other styles. Of the FRC's produced in 1999, 1,227 of them were black (30%). This was the second most commonly prodced FRC color. Second only to Torch Red for that year. All commercially available cars had black interiors.
Not really rare, but Talon90 got it right. I can add that there were only around 2000 total FRC's made in 2000 also. In 2001 they came out with the Z06 to replace it. This puts the total at a little over 6000 ever made that were non-Z06. I guess you can say that it is rare compaired to the other models but thats it. It also came with the LS1 and not the LS6 motor. As for black in 2000, the percentage was right around the same as the 99's. This puts the total a little over 1500 black non-Z06 FRC's ever made. I personnaly have seen two 99 black FRC's that were screwed up bad, one a flood car and the other had been rear ended hard and bent the frame. Check it out very good if you plan on getting it, and yes it is over priced by a couple thousand.
None of them came with memory package, HUD, and active handling was an option. A buddy of mine had a black 2000 frc and it didn't even have a under hood light.

About ten days or so I saw a dealer ad in the Daily Oklahoman classified! The most rare vette in the world was not described as such but WAS described, with a pic, as a 2005 C5!

More misinformation on the FRC
Several FRCs did come with the factory HUD...and the lighting package which includes the underhood light and lights in the trunk.
Mine has both. Even has a power seat, foglights and some other stuff that people are always saying wasn't available.
As for the "entry level" comments some people always make the FRC was a few hundred less than the coupe. If the performance equipment offered as a package on the '99 FRC was broken into options then the car would've cost more than the base coupe. It was a pretty good deal for what you got plus it's lighter and stiffer than the coupes. And for those who'll state the top end is higher on the coupe...yeah, by a few mph..so what. Where in the "real" world are you going to blaze around at 175+mph? I'll take the benefits down low.
I buy FRCs for the performance options and don't need the fluffy stuff. I guess you're entry level if you don't have useless memory seats, telescopic steering, twilight sentinal yada yada yada. Don't need 'em.
