If I am having a midlife crisis then it started when I was 17. that is when I started riding harleys. Or, it could have started when I was 19. that was when I got my first vette (on #4 and still have #3). Now dating a strippers....that was when I was in my 20's. I guess when I dated a **** star in my mid 40's, that would have been a mid-life something. But I wouldn't call it a crisis.
When I went to the DMV to register my Vette, the lady at the desk asked me if I was having a midlife crisis. I told her I was well beyond midlife……this was my last chance crisis.

I HAVE EARNED MY MID LIFE CRISIS, LET ME ENJOY IT!
I was 47 when I got my car, if someone referenced "mid-life crisis" I would re-evaluate their judgement (pretty healthy, but don't know about making 94 ).
If this is a crisis, I wish someone would have told me earlier, cuz I'm loving it, and would have started it sooner.
I have been watching this forum for 2 years now, and do not post much (as I am still waiting to get my dream C5 vette). I bought my first corvette brand new in 1987 and only had it a short while and really miss that car. I was only 18 then and now I will be 40 soon, so when I tell my buddies at work I am saving for one, the common response is "oh, midlife crisis..?" I get the same comments at home too!
Mid life crises my *ss,,, I've dreamed of having a vette since I bought 1980 Z28 ,, there was the vette sitting beside her in the showroom but was just over my budget at that time. I said one day... then the kids come along, bigger house, college to pay for and before you know it , Yeah we're in midlife !! Now we can afford it ,, now we buy it ! I think we deserve it Forget what they say, they are just jealous. I say enjoy the ride and enjoy your other half of your life
Ok what in the hell is with people assuming that when you buy a Vette you are going through a mid life crisis? I have been in love with Corvettes since I was in junior high and helped my uncle restore a 73' Stingray. So now that I have finally been able to purchase one, all I hear is that I am going through a MLC! What abunch of crap! Anyone else get labeled with this ridiculous statement?
Well, I am 35 and finally have the means to buy my first vette. I hope nobody accuses me of a midlife crisis! I agree with you though, I have always loved vettes. If I couldve bought one sooner I wouldve.
Don't knock the mid-life crisis! I just chose to chase cars and not women.
That way I get to keep my beautiful wife of 19 years AND have a great car.
Me too....
I have a Pontiac that's a scond faster at the track so its not the fast car thing.
I just wanted a daily driver that has more bang for the buck, you know.. something fun to drive, that's why I got the manual trans.
It's been 18 years with the same woman and the plan (still) is to keep her.
I used to make some ocasional jokes about MLC but nobody cares really, maybe its a maturity thing coming from the people making the comments.
Maybe its envy, or jealousy??

It comes from the fact that 'most' Corvette owners are in their 40-50s and have never been into performance vehicles ever in their entire life. All of a sudden they decide they want to get noticed by people so they go out and pick up an automatic coupe or vert and cruise under the speed limit while they drive it on Sundays. It just seems like a fake and set-up scenario to most people.
Of course, that's just a stereotype and doesn't apply to all Vette owners.
This is kind of funny. I work with a woman who just turned 40 and admitted to me that she is having a midlife crisis. She says she wants to start a new life and get a Corvette just like mine.
Oh, I like that one. But me being the Azzhat I am once told a women I worked with who was in her late 40's, and informed me was having a midlife crisis. That I prefered the Vette to menapause and the estrogen supplements she had chosen.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
