Default Mirror Replace Driver side help?

Morning guys!

Noticed over time my drivers side mirror has discolored and you can push on it and you can see the gooey fluid inside (assuming that has something to do with the heating ?).

I have read repair threads until I am crossed eyed now. My mount is ok, I just need the mirror glass. Is there any easy fix to just replace the glass? Without removal of entire unit? i.e. pop the old glass out and plug in the new? Do not care about the heating function, motor is fine. Yes, wishful thinking

Thanks in advance!

by no means am I an expert but the only quick fix is to get the mirror piece (i think ecklers has them) with glue or M3 tape on back and put it over the bad mirrior. you loose heat funtion but I have seen it on other vettes and it doesn't look to bad. sorry I couldn't be of more help but someone will chime in shortly.

Ifi remember correctly, there's a whole lot of tugging involved. The mirror is secured by two "ball-in-socket" joints There's also 2 wires connected to the mirror itself for heating I think.

Went to Eckler's, out of stock Appreciate the help though.

At GM direct the replacement is $39, Fred Beans $47. May give it a try and hopefully not create more work for myself

Thanks again!
