Okay, I guess this isn't much of a teaser, cuz I'm making it pretty obvious, but here's whats going on:
Not sure how quickly I'm going to move this project along, though, with school eating up all my time.
Clear lense TSX projectors, colormodded after the pictures were taken
4300K D2R bulbs converted to D2S from headlights I had left over from my Lincoln LS
unknown factory ballasts, also out of the lincoln.
Less than $200 spent on everything. Beat that, ya plug and play ebay hid kit wanna-be's (just kidding, dont take it personally)
take lots of pics! I assume you're doing/have done the clear lexan replacement of your stock "fluted" lens. I want to do this badly to cut down on light scattering. do a full write up on how you did this please!
jrprich: I will be using the stock headlamp housing as a shroud. The hole is the perfect size for the lense to stick through. This isn't the perfect solution, since it blocks a little bit of foreground output, but the projectors are too wide to fit from the front, so I'm willing to compromise. It won't be noticeable once I find some smaller projectors to use as fogs.
mcgiles: So far, I've only cut off the front of the cover. I haven't yet decided how I'm going to deal with covering it all up. I have an idea that should eliminate the mess of siliconing a piece back on that I'll take picture of if I go through with it.
jrprich, I know you've done this once (and RadioFlyer, if you're reading this)... I'm going to keep the cover entirely clear. Do you recommend that I get a separate reflector for the high beam, or just keep the stock one? I want to paint the housing black, so I'm concerned that if I dont get a separate reflector, it will look stupid (half black, half chrome). I could always just paint the entire thing black, since I never use the high beams.
Anyone that's considering this: get the euro headlamps, which have a socket for only 1 dual filament bulb, and fit some bixenons into those instead. Limited space is proving to be a pretty big issue, for a car with such a big headlight bucket.

RF did a test on his stock high beam with the clear cover (not painted)
Was a cool pencil beam.........sure he can send you the link.
I would use Plexiglas glue to secure clear 1/4" lexan to the left over OEM edges.......do a search and you will find several options.
I don't think the black and silver will look bad, may look really cool as the stock HB reflector has a nice finish inside.
