Default When to Mod??

I dont know about you guys, but I kind of wish I had started doing significant mods sooner with my vette. I know that many of us wait for the warranty to expire, but the mods are so much fun I wish I had started sooner. Now, I did to some basics right away - exhaust, intake, shift ****, etc...but now I'm thinking I could have done much more sooner. I think it takes awhile to "educate" yourself on what to do....so if you study before you buy, I think you would do more sooner.

Thoughts?

I've had to trade off owning the Vert against a son still in College Can't afford the big mods I'd really like to do

Trouble is I retire from active duty about the same time he finishes. I'll be a poor pensioner then. Its catch 22

I just couldn't wait until the warranty ran out. Luckily no big issues yet. Only regrets are that i wish i had waited on the Hurricane Intake and went straight
to Forced Induction.

I think the question is when NOT to mod. I personally hadn't had my car two weeks before I had started modding it.

I've been resisting the urge ever since I started on this forum. Until then my car was plenty fast enough and looked awesome It really still is and still does, but when I see what others have done, I WANT!!!

Good question. I think it might depend on ones mechanical ability as well. My car went back to the dealer 1 time since I bought it.

Warranty or no, it will never go back so I guess I was never really worried about voiding the warrenty...

Peace
Chip

That is a good question to pose, when I bought my Vette 5 years ago, the car was stock except for Hurst Shifter, K&N Intake and the Corsa Pace Cars, it stayed that way for 2 1/2 years and I was getting bored with the HP and the regular look that was like everyone else's. So the last 2 1/2 years has been mod after mod and still many planned for the future, only do what you can afford do not over extend or just keep your Vette stock

You make a good point.

The best advice is to somewhat plan out what you want to have long term so that you don't have to go back and undo some of the mods that you did previously to reach your desired goal.

Other than that mod at will
