Posted this in the audio section but I'm looking for maximum exposure since I am in the middle of this changout. I'm installing an after market HU and have been told to look in the passenger side footwell for an unused 3 lead harness and to tap into the yellow wire for my switched power. I'm having trouble locating this and recently read a post referring to the fact that the 2004 model year may not have this harness. Can anyone confirm and if so where is the best place to tap into switched power?
I'm not sure if this is any help, and without looking I can't even remember for sure, but when I added my heated seats, I think I went into #22 slot.
This could be totally wrong and I will try to verify, so beware.
Someone has to come through for you with better info than this.
I tapped the ignition switch wire harness. If I remember correctly is was the pink wire or maybe brown or orange. I probed with my multi-meter to verify.
The 2004 models don't have the 3-wire aux harness that was in the earlier c5's. I have no idea why GM removed it - it was very useful to have a switched/unswitched lead to tap into.
