i was driving the vette today and the check gauges light came on... right after that the gas gauge dropped to nothing and the "low fuel" message come on. I filled the tank 20min prior to taking it for a blast.. also the "shift from 1 to 4" light came on just for a half second then it shuts off. im just wondering what i can do about these things. O yehh i also hit the reset button on the gauge face and it did nothing for the "check gauges" light ..... thanks alot - john
Your check light came on because your gas gauge took a dump. It happens A LOT to our cars. Get some Chevron with Techron gas additive, pour it in your tank and see if that fixes your gas gauge.
Sulfur builds up on the sensor in the sending unit, and the gauge takes a dive.
Some have had good luck with SEAFOAM as well. Me, I use Techron every third tank of gas, and seafoam a couple times a year. Since I have been on this schedule of treatment, I haven't had any more gauge issues.
I use seafoam in all my vehicles. It cleans your engine like nobodys business. Plus you can make one helluva smoke show with it if you want. Don't ask.
Hope this helps you out.

P.S.
Make sure you use a quality gasoline. Chevron, Exxon...the like.
