Sellers, and dealerships in particular, count on the buyer to lose sense and confuse price with value. The price is merely the amount of money the buyer is willing to pay. The value, on the other hand, taps into our emotion, causes certain glands to secrete hormones that block our brain from making a good price decision. So, yes, do we get a little crazy? If we didn't, then Kia's would be the drive of choice and how boring!!!!
The last time I dealt with a dealer, I got the usual reply "hey, we can't sell it for that, we got more that that in it". I replied, "how do you stay in business making such stupid decisions?" Gave him my number told him to call if he was really interested in dealing. He called and sold for less than he "had" in it. Funny how that works. And guess what, he is still in business. Liars figure and figures lie. I always expect to be told a lie in a car tranaction. It seems a great game at the dealerships, between the salesmen, to see who can tell a prospect the most outrageous lie and still make a sale. Any of you out there that are salesmen that take this as an insult, well, so be it, it is a universal perception that only you can change. What ever happened to Saturn's attepmt to change the way cars were sold? Yep, really worked. Something is always withheld that the buyer finds out later. Buyer beware all the time.
Just keep your great looking car, spend about 8,000 in a nice blower setup and you will have the power of the Z06, but the awesome looks of the C5,and then go buy a boat
