I for one have had some issues in dealing with speed shops, to the point that im doing most of the work on my car myself. It would be interesting to know if anybody else has......hopefully i havent been the only one burned!!
ok, you live in Chicago. Go to Speed Inc.
they are the LSx gods in the area.
i think they are sponsors here.
talk to Larry over there. he won't steer you wrong
hey guys i have a 02 z06 with 1800 miles on it and just purchased an advance dyno cam package from rob (great guy to deal with and very reasonable and knowledgeable) but i live in ohio thought about doing it myself but i heard from a few people there is a place called backstreet performance in ohio which is supsoe to be very good. I was just wondering if any memeber have delt with them and what there experieces were. Thanks in advance.

Canjun dude is an awesome guy and he put my clutch in for me. Perfect job.
I know EG personally from when I lived in NYC. Another cool guy.
ECS-awesome
Vette Doctors-awesome
This is why the forum is important to everyone and must exspose all the muts out there. Because of my research on the forum through everyones personal experience I picked ECS and drove 200 miles to get there but never thought twice about it and have no regrets.
Earlier this month I went to Texas to get my tune after swapping my stock LS1 heads to AFR 205 59cc heads and the shop only did 1 N/A pull and 1 nitrous pull. I will not be going back there because they only got 19 rwhp out of the head swap.
Interesting approach - you did the headswap and are upset they didnt get more HP?
Were the before head swap and after head swap dyno pulls done on the same dyno?
Hi Chris, thanks for the good wishes. I love tuning but I don't have enough experience with N2O to feel comfortable with it yet, at least with a customer's car. Blowers, turbos, or NA, no problem. I do have a wet kit for my car that I will be trying my tuning skills out with...

When I still lived in florida, I went to a local speed shop in the Pensacola area. Only had headers and a vararam put on to an 04' z06. After he tuned it and gave it back, my car would stutter sometimes. Took it back and he hooked it up to efi to see if he could locate a problem. He said everything was fine and sent me on my way.
Fast forward a few months and about five trips back (he would avoid my phone calls so I had to show up in person and hope he was there, usually with him saying come back later). I decided to start diagnosing the problem myself since he was blowing me off. I called several tuners from here on the forum and they all pointed to a problem with the tuner himself. They also suggested that I look at the vararam install. Needless to say, my tuner didn't like me saying this to him. After a heated discussion, I went home and took the vararam apart as a starting point. The tuner didn't fasten the air filter securely and I was getting unmetered air.
Twenty minutes was my total repair time. All the tuner wanted to do was accuse me of not knowing what I was talking about. I have since sold that car to attend law school, but needless to say, when I get my next vette, it won't be going to him. End of rant.
I checked out this thread just for the hell-of-it,as I run a showroom stock Z06........and I think I will leave it that way. Seems the speed shops are as un-scrupulous as the dealerships...405 ponys... or some cretin under my hood...easy choice
