While My 02 camaro did have improved HP version of the LS1, it had the dreaded piston slap like no-other, to the point I was asked a few times if it was diesel.
I wish I could say it was one of the reasons I bought an earlier (earliest) C5 was that I knew/heard the first few years of LS1's where piston slap free, but it wasn't. It was just a bonus, and one I appreciate every time I start it up and it sounds like it should.
