A hole is cut in the axle-over portion of each side of the exhaust near the muffler, and another hole cut in the inner most tip. From here, a titanium tube is welded in making a muffler bypass for the exhaust gas. Makes exhaust note louder and meaner. Do a searched for modded ti on youtube and you should find plenty of sound clips. Also search for "modded ti" on here and you should come up with some pictures.

Here is also a great video from spdkilz http://www.spdkilz.com/video-audio/V...dTIExhaust.wmv

Be aware that Ti takes special equipment and an experienced welder to make the mod. Ordinary welding won't get it and can ruin the pipes.

I recommend a nice mixture of gum, epoxy, and JB Weld

Default Muffler Shop

I am assuming a local muffler shop (that does custom exhausts, pipe bending and welding can handle it)?

Good chances are they won't be able to. Lots of guys on here have spent months trying to find someone in many different areas that have the abilty and the equipment. I guess best thing to do would be to call around the shops in your area and see.

From what I have read, even if most places have the right equipment, they have never welded ti before. Some may be willing to practice on some scrap and give it a shot. Good luck! You could check your regional forum and see if anyone close to you can recommend anyone.

No, normally they can't.

I know of a local chassis builder that says he can weld Ti but Ti pipe is hard to find and the cost of the Ti pipes + his labour + the cost of obtaining Ti mufflers (for non-Z06 owners) would make this not really worth while, comapired to an aftermarket system.

Personally I love my modded ti catback. I paid almost as much as new exhaust but got exactly the sound I was looking for with OE parts.
