Default Question about a 97 coupe

A local guy had a 97 coupe with 30k on it for $17. It is bone stock, auto climate, cd, regular seats, new tires (not runflats). Silver ext, black interior, glass top. Do you thinks it's worth it? Thanks

With 30K miles if it is in excellent shape I say pretty good deal. If it is in only good to fair shape I would say see if he would come down about 2K in price.

For one in the shape you describe 17k is a good deal

I just got another one with 40K miles, 6 speed and Artic White\Firethorn red interior. I paid more than 17 for it...not a bunch more- but more none the less. Florida prices stay a little higher.

I would say that if all checks out and its in great shape- that is a good price. I love the 97's, this is my second one...never had a issue with either 97 I have owned!

Just be ready for someone to jump in and tell you to avoid 97's like the plague. Happens everytime.

6 speed and those miles?? I think its a very good deal, provided the car is in excellent shape... IT SHOULD BE.

make sure to do a GM service history on it to make sure its not a buggy one. any GM dealer can run it for you with the VIN. I would watch out for a car that's been in the shop multiple times for electronic issues.

ALSO, pull the battery and check under it for any signs of leaking acid. the engine computer is located underneath the battery and early C5s are notorious for leaky batteries from the factory.

6spd - even better. Had one for 5 years and although it had some bugs they were the best 1st year cars ever. I think GM spent a lot of time trying to make them right.
That car is now 12 years old and still looks fresh IMO. 30k is just broken in. Offer 15 but bring the 17.

Arctic/firethorn is an awesome combo!
OP: Yup, if it checks out, that price is way reasonable. Good luck!
