Default Millenium Yellow Paint

So there were a few tiny nicks in the front license plate insert when I purchased it. Apparently the previous owner's state required a front plate and the insert made a good tray for nuts and bolts. So here's what the body shop gave me. According to the shop there were no variances on an '02. Now they are bringing in the paint rep with a special camera that will supposedly give them the correct formula for mixing the paint. Anyone know offhand if there were any variances in '02 for Millenium Yellow?

I had the paint code for an 03 MY. Three different sets of body parts changed or fixed, painted and blended three different times, THREE different MY on my car.
If it just that cover IMO dont bother.

I am going though the same thing. I had the rear spoiler put on two years ago along with ground effects front and side-no problem. Last year had the acp hood done-perfect match. This year I've had nothing but problems. New formula they were told. I've had the rep out and they've gone so far as to take a part of the car with them to match it. Today after weeks and five formula's later it's finally dead on. The guy I use is good-he's blended this paint without even having to do entire sections but this year is was all different. I now have extra paint-just in case. Good luck.

from what i heard the MY is a 3stage paint process and makes it a lot harder to match especially if the shop doesn't have experience with it.

I bought some MY stuff online probably painted in China and it was perfect. Im not buying the its hard to match crap. If the paint is done correctly it will match.

MY is a three step paint process ala the $750.00 charge by GM when the car is new.
