I was thinking about putting on a lamborghini door kit on my 04 vert. I was wondering if anyone has installed one of these kits themselves and if it is a do it yourself project or is it one to be left to the pros. I heard that some cutting of the front fenders might be needed. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
There are several different kits If you buy one get a kit that mounts at the top and bottom of the dooor and car ( not a single mounting point). Most kits now are pre drilled and are a direct fit to your existing holes. You will have to remove the front fenders and cut out a very small section for the hinge to fit. The C-5 wires do not have to be cut or extended. I di mine in my garage and it took only 2 1/2 hours with my friend helping me. If you need any more info feel free to ask.

I am impressed! 2 1/2 hours? You must work alot faster than I do. Was that done with a beer in your hand?
The gray c5 (1st row, right side) is forum member Billy182. He would be able to tell you if that kit is junk or not. As for the LSD kits, I have seen Gary's (GBVette) a couple times and the hinges are solid and the door does not wobble. Z06-Jim has vertical doors, but i'm not sure what brand.
It looks to be a nice kit. It mounts at top and bottom. It would all depend on the shock quality, & the steel thickness. My kit looked like it except that my steel in not black. The doors open well and stay up at any angle, you can also adjust them to open out further etc. If that kit has a warranty it would be a great price.
I have the Vertical Doors, Inc. kit and was installed by a friend who owns a body shop.
He spent several hours tweaking and adjusting on them until they were perfect, (actually a couple days worth of adjusting/aligning)
As far as operating the doors, they swing open and closed normally just like the stock doors. The only time I raise them vertical is for show.
The one thing you have to be careful with is when closing them. They have a slight amount of play, (up and down movement), in them that could damage the jamb area of door if it hits the striker.
You just have to be sure and close them straight, without putting any downward force on them.
The LSD kit has supposedly taken care of the problem with the play in the doors and would have probably gone with them if they had been available at the time.

I have done several vettes with doors. The 2 1/2 hours was for mounting the doors and alignment. I already had the fenders off and trimmed the day before the hinge arrived by fed ex. Fender prep takes a bit longer for me.
I have GT FACTORY they're adjustable from 0-90 degrees. from personal experience i would stick with a well known manufacturer for lambo doors. I would be leary of any new kit less than 1000.00. I bought a kit off e-bay for 699.00 a couple years ago and the bolt holes didnt even line up. not saying you cant find a good deal on e-bay but sometimes you get what u pay for.
