That's good advice EG, but what you should do is maybe break it down a bit. List some mods going from least expensive to the most. Alot of us can't afford turbo's or superchargers (atleast not at the moment) and it would be good to know some cheap tricks as well as the expensive ones. Thanks again EG, you are one among many good ones in here.

Good idea, but that can be misleading a bit. My point was to plan where you want to eventually be and work towards that - rather than just adding mods as extra funds become available. Does that make sense?
EG is the man although i think about 6 months ago i asked him a question about everyday about his cam shaft line. Only took him a month of everyday questions before i think i started to annoy him.
But his advice was exactly what i needed in my choice lol.

Sorry to hear you feel like that, EG, I find posts like yours very useful in determining what I'm gonna do in the future with my rides. Hey, if I took to heart too much of what's said here and other sections, I'd be telling the forum as a whole to eff off way too often.
If the thread starter has to bump his/her own thread several times, then obviously people aren't interested.
Pity bump from me.
Do you ever have anything positive to add or are you so miserable that you feel that you must demean others in order to make yourself feel better? I am glad EG bumped his post otherwise I would have missed it.

No, he has nothing positive to add - not just to my threads (which he seems to be irresistibly attracted to - like a politician is to prostitutes) but to everyone's threads.
He adds nothing constructive. He's an equal opportunity hater
Read his past posts - all that spews from him is hate and negativity.
This is one of the best postings i have seen, lots of useful info for the new vette owners. I was glad to see a bit of info on suspension and handling upgrades as that is what i am going to do before HP upgrades.
Maybe you could touch on it a bit more
Thanks for the help
Yes, that is correct, the factory intake is very restrictive. An intake filter/system is possibly the biggest 'bang for your buck' you will get, short of installing a cheap Nitrous Oxide system.
A SLP Blackwing, Vararam, Halltech Stinger, etc. are all light years better than the stock intake filter system.
Catback mufflers should always be viewed as 'aural bling' and should never purchased with performance in mind. Buy catbacks because you like how they sound - not for the alleged performance gains (minimal at best).

Stephen...How's it going in TX? Hope you are doing well...and are happy in your new stomping grounds. BTW...Gronds original wheels are still hanging in my garage....I'm letting them appreciate for the next big St. Judes fundraiser. They have Falkens on them with less than 200 miles...whad ya think the kids could get as a donation from a forum member with Grond original wheels and practically brand new tires? (Oh...sorry Stephen...I meant Tyers )
-Best to you,
Jason

My problem with mods isn't money (not a reasonable amount anyway) or gas mileage. My concerns with mods are reliability and driveability.
I'm sure nobody needs to tell you about a "rainy night in Georgia" with Grond dead on the side of the road south of Macon...and that was a professional's car.
Then I always start thinking about...why do I need more horsepower? I don't race the car and I sure won't race it on the streets, so what good is more power? I can't really use all I've got now.
Like everyone else here, I'd love to have a really snarling beast, but for ME, I'm just not willing to pay the price for one.
^^^ I was exactly where you are in my way of thinking. I realized that I had gotten "almost" all of my exterior mods accomplished and then I thought...the car feels slow to me. After many vette car shows and seeing all of the maggies and centri's I realized that there is a whole other world of Corvette performance out there without the need to goto a C6Z06. For less than $10,000 I decided to S/C my car while staying with the stock bottom end and stock heads and cam. This decision might be the best one I've ever made (financially). I can PULL on any stock C6Z06 or almost any other stock car for that matter...and it's still totally driveable and has good manners.
Granted I "MAY" be in line for a new block and internals at some point but I'll still be saving money with a better looking car (imho) than the C6.
just food for thought...btw...I thought you were already blown Jack?
If you're ever down in S.E. Florida...you can drive my car and then make an educated decision

Thanks Jason. That's a really generous offer. I may give you a call one day when I'm down that way.
No, came close several times but never pulled the trigger on getting the blower.

A good write-up that brought to light many things easily overlooked, I would also add:the install of said components by someone who has the skill and knowledge to personally back their work.
