Default Aircondition Filter Question

Do we have an air condition filter in our C5s? My parents have a 2000 DTS caddy that had one that started comming apart, and unfortunatly the pieces went into the A/C system and messed the whole thing up, and ended up costing a few thousand bucks..

Do we have this?

If you are asking about an in-cabin filter, you can sleep well knowing this will never happen to your car.

Those seem to be more of a luxury car thing. I had one on my Lincoln LS. Seems kinda a BS thing to me, I don't really see the need, But as stated above you don't need to worry. C5's don't have one.

Awsome, good to know. My dad pulled out the air filter for his 2006 STS and it was dirty as hell (hes got 40k on it though), just suprised at how much back and grime was on the filter. I hope we're not breathing that stuff in since we dont even have a filter...

In-cabin filters are big profit items for the stealerships. I replaced one in the wifey's Acura. Took me 30 minutes (first time learning curve) and $27.00 for the part. Acura boys wanted $109.00. Hmmm? I'm in the wrong business.

I did mine on the bimmer, and you should have seen how dirty that filter was. I had to vaccum out leaves and other big debris from under my dash.

No cabin filter in the Vette - but I have one in our '07 Cadillac SRX. Maybe I ought to check that bad boy!

Ecklers sells a $11 foam filter that you place over the air intake at the cowl. I am on my second one. It works !

Not washable? Any noticable air restriction when operating the a/c or just on fresh air?

It is washable and you can vaccum it. I couldn't tell any difference. I run on recirculate a lot. I needed a second one because the first
just discenagrated (sp?) over 4 years.

I use one, while it doesn't really filter fine dust, it does keep the leaves and big crap out of your udders and away from your AC ducts

The first time you wash this foam filter, you will quickly see just how much dust and dirt, that was headed into your cabin, was actualy captured...........it is a lot
