My vette (C5) just got to Germany and I was told that I needed to put a front license plate to it. The new European Union Plates are 20% smaller than American plates.
Has any one else on this board ran into this problem and if so, what kit should I get to mount the EU Plates to the front of my Black C5.
Glue it on top of your old license plate or a piece of raw galvanized sheet metal with some liquid nails or JB Weld. If there are going to be any gaps, paint them to match.
Depends on the German authorities I guess, but we have the same euro plates in England. We have a concession to fit US sized plates even though the characters are smaller because that's all that will fit in the plate holder. There are companies that will make this sized plate for all European formats.
As you can see from the pic above, Euro sized plates are longer and thinner.
If you're talking about the plates for US spec cars register with the military, I used the normal license frame, there was just a small gap on each side, but it stayed in place fine with 2 screws.
Just go without one like they do in the US. Most people just leave it off until they get stopped by an LEO and they tell the officer, "hey didn't know"....
it's been my experience that the German cops aren't as kind as American cops when it comes to stuff like that. You may have gotten away with it with the old USA plates, but now that you've got the standard German plates, i wouldn't risk it.

Now that's just tacky.

This is very true. You ain't seen **** in the USA like German cops can be about this subject. Don't try and skirt the law. Remember, when in Rome...
OP, you may want to take a look at this site: https://www.licenseplates.tv/index.p...9751e80e5369f7
What you could do is buy a replacement front cover plate and use the one you have now to bolt your German plate to. The replacement ones are much nicer and they're already painted. Just replace it when you return to the US.

Just get out of your car while waving your arms in the air and tell them you're an American and they should appreciate what we did for them during WWI and II.
