Default C5's with Headers Only

My C5 has low mileage and I use it for work.

I'm not sure what I'm doing with this car down the road. I might dump it in a year so I don't want to start messing with it too much. I'm thinking that I might want to do a set of headers though. I'm not interested in doing cam, heads, gears, exhaust on this particular car.

Does anyone have a set of headers on a stock 2001 exhaust system and do they feel it was worth it?

Also, it seems Kooks is the header of choice. Are they worth the extra $ or is there another header out there that is decent?

We don't have emissions controls.

I have American Racing headers on my wife's '01. Definitely worth it.
I considered Kooks and LG Pros but landed on the AR becasue of power across the band, fit, finish, price and sound.
You won't go wrong with any of the three mentioned above.

AR seem to be the easist to install .

I have Kooks. I used to have TPIS. We are installing my old TPIS headers on a forum members car on Saturday. The only other mods he has is a Z06 ti exhaust. He's going to get a dyno tune afterwards. I'll post the results.

First: I hate you for not having emission controls

On to your question, If you plan on dumping the car in a few years, I wouldn't shell out the cash on top of the line headers like AR or LG. (save those for a car you want to keep)

IMO SSAC headers (available here on the CF through member "tstar") are a good option for those who want headers but not "shell out the extra clams"

I'm using these on my car and the low in torque is significantly improved, milage is up on average 2mpg, and the exhaust note is wicked.

I started with headers, X pipe and 3" RT hi-flo cats and a tune. If you want to save a wad of money and still get good headers, check out Jet-Coats headers. The come ceramic coated inside and out for a good price. I've had them on for almost three years now and they look like new.
