Okay I am just curious to see if I am getting bad gas mileage. Since this is the first car I've owned with a gauge for it, then I am not sure what I should be getting depending on my driving conditions. I'm seeing between 18.5 and 20MPG. I drive mainly on the highway just to and from work. After work I may get back out for a min on main streets for a bite to eat and gas. What about you all?
Oh yeah, it's an A4.
This time of the year, thanks to headlights and that infernal air conditioner compressor insisting on running in my DD, I am averaging 21-23mpg, with 1/3 city and 2/3 highway miles. (54 miles round trip, including 18 city and 36 highway miles).
Last fall, with temps in the 70s and 80s, I was able to reach a best of 25.2mpg with one tank, and 23-24mpg the rest of the time (unless my wife, who is definitely an enthusiast, drove the car).
on my wife's MN6 '01 120 K miles, with vararam and AR Headers we average just under 30 mpg hiway....
We used to get 32 mpg average on the highway before the headers
When I first got the vert I got 31 on the trip from Fla. to here in Flagstaff with 3:15s. H/C pkg, 3:42s, 3500 hi-stall brought it down to 28 highway, 23 town. Since the supercharger it gets 24 highway, 22 town. That is with a light foot, otherwise forget about it.
I own a box stock 2002 convertible with A4 and 3.15 rear end. I average 22-24 mpg around town in traffic. My best highway average was 28.7 mpg on a trip from Tulsa to St Louis running 65 to 75 mph. these are real calculated averages not DIC numbers. In my experience the DIC is usually 1-3 mpg high.

My 99 is heavily modded and has a 3.42 rear (A4), and I get up to 24mpg on the highway (if I'm good), or about 22mpg if I run 80+. Around town isn't so good. Maybe about 15mpg, tops, but more like 12-13. I think, for the performance, the mileage is outstanding, but everything looks good compared to my Escalade...
