I just bought a used Parker Performance 18ft car hauler. It has a dovetail and the rock guard. I'm thinking of buying Rollback Soft-tire Wheel Straps from Autohauler.com http://http://www.autohaulersupply.c...57&prevstart=0
They wrap around the tire, not just over the top. I'm wondering if those of you who tow/haul your Vettes have comments on this strap or suggestions on straps to buy. I'll be towing the Vette behind a motorhome. Pictures below of the trailer, the wheel strap and my TR Coupe.
Comments please. I haven't bought the straps yet. I wanted input from the "experts" on the forum. Thanks.
4 T-hooks and 4 high quality 5000lb or higher rachet straps will take care of it. Use the frame holes (where people put in jacking pucks) and criss cross the straps front and rear. Always tow with the parking brake on and the car in neutral.

This is how I tow mine to the track. It rides really well on the trailer like this. Never had a problem. After you have done it a time or two you can load the car in a flash.
The T Hooks are the only way to go. The slots in the frame are designed as shipping slots and the factory car carriers use these slots with T hooks to move the cars around the country. They should know best on how to trailer the cars.
Thanks for the replies thus far. Suggestions for T-hooks are definately worth looking onto.
T hooks work well, however I did notice my daughters 98 malibu had some deformation of the frame rail around the slot from the hook after trailering it only 80 miles, probably some rust issues and a car trailer may not ride as smooth as the factory car hauler. Sometimes the T hooks are hard to get into the slots once the car is on the trailer since it sits so low and the trailer fender gets in the way. Another thing, measure the height of the trailer fender and then measure how high your driver door sits, I had to add a 2X on my tilt trailer so the door would clear the fender after loading. Some trailers have removeable fenders and this may not be an issue but you shold pre measure or you will be climbing out the window. Another thing, in order that my car not drag going on and off the trailer, I had to take 2 x 10's by 8 foot with me and blocks to go under the trailing edge of the trailer to keep it at an acceptable angle so the front air dam wouldn't drag. just some things to consider, Good Luck!

Here's my Z06 loaded and ready to go to VIR.
Can you repost the pictures all I can see is the red X's
Thanks again, all. Looks like I'll be investing in some T-hooks and ratchet straps. I was going to get the ratchet straps regardless of what type of tie down I decided on. I really appreciate everyone's replies.
why trailer it, drive it. i get a kick out of these c5 guys that trailer there cars to outside events, park down the street unload and then drive into the show, give me a break drive the thing!!!!!
^ We're not talkig about shows... we're talking about racing. It's nice to know you have a ride home if you wreck or the car brakes. Also, I can put my track whees/tires and racing seat in/on ahead of time and be ready to go when I get to the track.
