I Have A 00 Coupe I Want Hud,i See Them For Sale Every Where.this Is My Question.what Do You Have To Do To Put It On A Car That Doesn't Have It? Can You Put It On A Car That Doesn't Have It?thanks Harleyfullmoon
pretty easy but challenging you need , switch , hud , bezel , and wire harness . take your dash apart install hud , switch , harness , cut hole in dash for bezel . and put it all back together .
It's not to bad to install. I bought one last year from a guy on the forum and I actually just tonight installed it. Took my time and it still only took me about 3 1/2 hours. and it came out great! The only thing I needed help with was getting the dash back in since it is so large made it hard to do by myself so a buddy came over and helped me get it back in and lined up properly and then I did the rest again. Good luck if you do it.

Same here. I installed mine myself. 3 hrs. max. I hope this doesn't scare you......
I just finished put HUD in my '99 frc I installed it myself with no problem just take your time. If I can help you can reach me at kellerdesigns@earthlink.net
I added a HUD to my 97. To date, I cant decide if this, the HID headlights or Heated seats were my best mod.
a special windshield is not needed. Mine works fine without the special hud winshield. I believe the HUD windshield has very fine gold foil in it or something like that. This keeps the projection from washing out in bright sunlight. With a Non Hud windshield you will notice the washout a little more, but only if the sun is shining right through your windshield and you have a very light background (ie.. concrete on the road instead of asphault)
Also, if you have any questions and want some advice on how to do it, send me a PM and Ill give you my phone number and give you the general walkthrough of what to do.

I didn't install the HUD but replace a cracked HUD bezel. Just remember to connect the HUD wires to the cluster , oh yea, the hazard switch too , oh and then the don't let the defrost sensor drop back into the dash. My 3 hour job took 6 hours. And I only had two screws left over that I can't find a place for.
Yea, that's a pink shift **** alright but there's nothing "pink" about that Vette's "get up and go!"
I'm not saying that you need a special windshield, I'm saying GM used a special windshield and they had some reason for doing so. I don't have a clue what that was.
