I was just wondering everyone's opinion on placing mud flaps on my Z06 daily driver. Do they really work and do they look out of place on a Corvette. I am looking at custom fit ones that are specifically made for the C5. The roads I travel have stones and sand everywhere.
Mine work. No chips... but it depends on if you can live with the look.
I went with the SUV guards from Pep Boys and mounted them on the front with factory fasteners (no new holes). On the back, I cut out a small set and used automotive grade foam double-side tape and one of the existing OEM fender well screws...

Hi, Yes the mud flaps do cut down dramaticaly on stone chips. I have the color matched contoured type such as sold by ecklers and others. They are a pita though, because they scrape on speed bumps, driveways and other inperfections in the road that otherwise wouldn't bother you. They were on my car when I bought it, otherwise I wouldn't have them, and would take them off, but I think they would leave a mark where they fit to the body. Looks wise they aren't bad , and imho add a bit of distinction to the overall look. I wouldn't get them again
Luck to all
Another alternative would be the clear film that body shops use. Down that low on the car, it would be almost invisisble and protect the paint very well.
I had them ans they worked but i had to take them off after I lowered it cuz they were getting all cracked and ruined. Now that they are off I wouldnt put them back on. The car looks so much better without them.
Here's what I did to mine. When I went to the track, rubber kept getting all over the car, and I hate tape up the rear fenders. These C6 Z06 rear mud flaps work great.

I run a set of mud flaps from Ecklers on mine. They require no drilling and do a good job of keeping the rock chips off the side of the car. You will still get some chips, but certainly a lot less than if they were not on the car. Part number is 35190.

Mud flaps are for trucks and trailers...cannot enhance the original aeredynamic design of your car...JMHO.
If you are worried about stone damage look at some of the clear protectant coatings available from folks like 3M ...
