I was 20. Right out of flight training, '67 427, 425 hp. Then came Viet Nam, baby and a VW station wagon. 32 years later I bought my '99 and still love it today with 122k miles of smiles. Priorities.
I was 32 back in 2004 when i bought mine, would have done it sooner but i was too busy being preoccupied with fbodies and thinking i could never afford a new vette.
Was 22 when I bought my first Vette, the one in my Avatar. That was almost 53 years ago. Got it at the end of 1955 as a left over and traded it a year later for a '57 270hp. That was sold in 1959 after a wife and family.
Well guys I was just curious. Im 23 now bought my 2004 Z shortly after I turned 22, got a baby on the way and Im trying to figure out how to keep em both. (Of course Ill keep my daughter). Just wondering how old most vette owners are when they realized the dream.

I was 19, stationed in Alabama. Bought a 67 w/ a 327/ 375 hp 4 spd. Base closed a year later, made mistake of selling it to my then girlfriends mom. Bought a 74 in 77, sold it in 78 and spent a lot of time the next several years stationed overseas. Bought my current vette, 04 LeMans Blue coupe last month. 30 years is a long time between vettes, but it was worth the wait.
Bought my 2001 in 2004 as a gift to self for my 30th birthday.
2 marriages, a divorce, and a son later (born October 30, 2007 ) it'll be mine in 14 months.
Friends, family, and coworkers all said the same thing, "You'll have to sell your Vette after the divorce!" and "You'll DEFINITELY have to sell the Vette after your son's born!"
Ha! Even with a son, a stay-at-home wife, and 3 more alimony payments, I can keep the Vette, take care of family needs, and take the wife out on the town every now and again!
I was 23, had a new '75 convertible, my wife was 20, with a '71 convertible. We're now in our 50s, she has a '96 convertible, I have a '01 coupe-life has been good....
