I have 00 vert and door panels are already off at body shop.
I thought if there were a bolt in upgrade to my speakers, now would
be the time to do it...
I am keeping stock head unit, etc..
Just looking to see if speakers themselves have a reasonable upgrade
option since the vert is so windy.

Replacing the smaller speakers with 3.5" coaxials will significantly improve your high end response. Alpine and Infinity are two popular brands that offer 3.5" coaxials. The swap can use your existing speaker wires.
Does anyone have a part # of a quality 3.5" coax speaker they
have used and would recommend??
I checked with crutchfield and they do not have any 3.5" that
will work due to "space requirements".
Thanks for any help! Tom
What about the Bose amps? Don't you need something between the stock HU and the new speaker to make them work? Bose head units don't put out squat for wattage, the speaker does all the work. Or rather the built in amp does all the work.
I put a pair of these in my doors a couple of months ago...INFINITY REFERENCE 3012CF. Got them from Crutchfield for $30 delivered. Whatever 3.5 you choose, it should fit- there's lots of room behind the speaker. In all likelihood, you'll need to cut off and replace the female connector spades; most speaker terminals are opposite widths from the Bose arrangement. I had to use bass blockers to calm the distortion. It was worth $30 but don't expect any miracles- the Bose system is mediocre at best.
