Default Oli change costs?

What do you guys pay for your oil change? I'm specifically looking for the Jiffy Lube type service, where they provide the Mobil One and a filter in the price.

I take my own filter (UPF44) and sometimes a case of Mobil one with me to the place and get charged $29 for the service. I have been charged as little as $6 this way.

I purchase a case or two of Mobil 1 at Costco - ($30 per case) and I have a supply of UPF44 filters that I bought from Fichtner. I have a buddy with a four-post lift. I take my car over there and change my own oil. I'm not sure that I would trust Jiffy-Lube - even if I was standing there watching like a hawk. I don't trust them with the DD, let alone my Corvette. I think if you have to have someone else change the oil - see if your local dealer will do it for you. At least there is someone over the age of 18 to complain to if something goes wrong.

Default TYake your next $29 and buy some Rhino Ramps

Can do it yourself EASILY. Get Rhino Ramps (go for the silver not the black rated higher capacity) and park with front downhill like on a driveway. All you need is a large oil catch pan, an oil filter wrench, some rags, a funnel and an old screw top gallon jug or two.

Yup, I've done it myself before - for the last 32 years and 30+ vehicles, not to mention my families' autos, boats, bikes, atvs, motorhomes, pressure washers and lawnmowers.

Its just easier to find a good shop with a pit. Add to that - my ramps are 1500 miles away right now, with the rest of my tools. (Both sets - i travel too much. Doubling up sucks) I feel very lucky just to have a garage big enough to park in at night!

Then you have to carry the used oil to a disposal site and sometimes pay for the service. I'm also in a watershed community now - About 30' from the door to the city's drinking water. You can't even wash a car without the enviro safe detergents here. But, back to the question....

Just wondering what the prices were for oil changes now. Another CF member told me they wanted $120 where she inquired.

I paid $90+ for the last change to my Land Cruiser. But that included the 8 qts of Mobil One I asked for. I'll remember to bring it myself the next time. Gotta love it.

Last time I had someone other than myself do the oil change it was my dealer - they charged me $56.

i could never understand why people take their car somewhere to change oil. whatever the kind of car is. this is the easiest maint job u can do whatever the vehicle is. and i will sleep better knowing that it was done right. just do it yourself. it takes hardly any time to jack any car up and pull a plug and drain oil and put new oil in vehicle. and when u do it u know it was done right!!!

I now do my own change so the cost of the oil and the filter. Time wise its quicker than going to the dealer/Jiffy Lube.

My oil came from Walmart and the filters from a supporting vendor.

I'm still living on oil that came back in my container. Not looking forward to Euro prices

the local Jiffy Lube wants $79 for 7 qts of Synthetic and a filter...
When I offered to provide my own oil and filter they offerred $3 off!!!
I qeustioned them and they said $1 off if you provide your own filter, $2 off if you provide your own oil....
I laughed and left.....

That is why I continue to do my own oil changes.

Remember to dispose of the old oil properly if you change it yourself. I know that autozone and place like that take it. The disposal is enough of a reason to not change it myself. I don't want to lug a container of oil in the back of my other cars.

I would change my own, but 1) I really dont have the time, and 2) dont have a place to get rid of the oil easily. I have seen it anywhere from 55-105 to get it done. the 105 was just last week and he knows I will never be back again. the dealer charges 78 and bowtiebandit works at the dealer I go to and I know bobbie will take care of my car as if it were his own.

I have a KwikLift in my garage so I do my own. If I did not do them my wife would ask why I bought the lift.

I don't go to Jiffy Lube, or any quick lube places. I go to a dealer if they aren't bad or a trusted local mechanic/performance shop.

Edit: I've paid $65 from two different Corvette specialty performance shops in my area. That's for Mobil and they will do Redline or whatever else usually for a few bucks more.

Do you really want to take your corvette to a quick lube place where they regularly service generic cars, trucks, sedans etc?

An oil change is an oil change, but they will likely treat your baby just like any other car.

I had mine changed last week at Boltons in Lubbock, TX. Cost $60.00 for Mobile 1 synthetic and GM filter. You are suppose to stay in the car while they do it, but I get out and stand there and watch.

If your local Walmart has a recessed pit for changing oil, they change it for $48 with Mobil 1. They generally will not put a vette on a lift. Includes toping off other fluids, filter, vacuum inside of car. I was able to watch procedure and was happy with result and price. Local dealer wanted $90.

Well the answer I would have given you last year would have been:

Absolutely, we can do it in my garage, but btw you can barely open the doors on the car in there or get a jack under it. Or we can pull it outside and do it on the driveway, but thats not paved, and btw it's not level either, and if has rained in the last week, its probably not dry, but sure anyone can do it.

Its all good now, moved some stuff and can just about get a jack under the side if I run it along the door, and the driveway is paved, so Im back to doing them myself.

Point being, is that yes, it is easey, but dont assume everyone has the facility that you do
